So, is the RFB all that we thought it'd be?

I hope this does not stir up an argument about accuracy again...

but I wonder if these new changes will change the rifles accuracy, for better or worse? Also if it slows the action down a bit I think reliability (from the magazines end) would improve a lot. If I had a Gen 2 maybe I would not have needed to lube the crap out of my magazines.

Just when I was finally glad I had saved some money rather than blow as usual... I am starting to get the addicts urge to reach for my wallet again.

I had downloaded Gunvault from this site thanks to a wonderful gentleman member. It allows you to catalogue all your firearms, and you can even keep track of how many rounds you've fired etc. Long story short, I just acquired a Mdl 37 Airweight and had entered it into the Gunvault program when I saw the grand total value (to date) of my firearms collection. $32K. 32 freakin' thousand dollars. And that amount doesn't include the $1800 for the Uzi I bought, which is being held up by the RCMP for verification. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was sick to my stomach, yet grinning from ear to ear. I need help, I need an intervention. I'm pre-ordering an RFB against any sound judgement I may possibly have. So yeah, excuse me if I don't feel the slightest amount of compassion or pity for you, ok? :p

Probably have to tweak the loads but it appears the guys stateside are having good luck with 165-168 gr bullets and Varget and IMR 4895..


I especially like this post...

I tried 3 bullets with IMR 4895, match primers and Lapua brass - bushing neck sized and loaded with Redding competition seaters: 168gr Amax, 155gr and 168gr Berger. Mine did not like any of them.

I am not saying it can't be done, but perhaps the groups linked to are atypical of the rifle? Or maybe I just got 'lucky' with my rifle?

Is IMR 4895 the only powder you tried?

How about Varget or RL-15?
 
I found the RFB great for bear. 100yd shot with regular Hornady SST, from a sitting position, red dot w/4x magnifier; double lung and heart; didn't really need the magnifier. I am using a muzzle brake though, the jump and recoil is negligeble. Deer is next on the list, even though I think the .308 is a bit much for it, or maybe it's the rounds.

i am the new owner of lyodm's old rifle, 150grn nosler accubonds with 42-43grns
imr4895 provide consistant 4 to 5shot 1" groups @100m

168grn hornady amax and barnes ttsx seemed to be quite inconsistant with any powder charge (imr4895) (i may get some varget and try it to see what it gives me)

Guess it just takes a little experimenting....glad to hear you find a load that works...

Varget is the powder I am going to start with....
