so is Type- 81 coming in or not ?

If they can't ban it, then they will just hold it in limbo for as long as possible. No FRT = de facto ban.

Do you really believe it has anything to do with inefficiency?

If the barrel is over 18.5" the only two choices they have are non-restricted or prohibited.

Honestly, you expected otherwise????

Until we get rid of the Firearms Act, this kind of bullsh!t will continue, as you well know!

This isnt an attack on you, as I know damned well you've been fighting the C-68 bullsh!t as long as I have, and then some.....

The really cool thing about the T81 is that the Chinese were actually trying to improve on the reliability of the T56 (AK) when they designed it. Consider that for a moment.
The Type 56 AK is one of the most reliable and solid combat rifles ever built. It is estimated that more Type 56s have been manufactured and seen combat than any other AK variant, including Russian! Makes you wonder how they intended to improve on it.

The AK isn't perfect; shorter sight radius, optics are logistically goofy, less capability for modularity, not match-grade accurate. But the one thing it excelled at, unquestionably, was reliability.

Couldn't be - it's a Norinco. Just kidding - as AK's go the Chinese T56 is pretty darned solid. I really liked mine.

Andddd the bad news is back. If they can list it as an ak variant they will, they are accountable to no one. they've had it for going on two years if it was prohib one would thing the outcome would be before us already. i guess only TI really could find out whats going on with it

Have you been involved in capital expenditures involving the CF? I'll wager it's the most inefficient.

Seathing, F-35, FWSAR, to name just a few. All projects started more than a decade ago with no end in sight.

you cant really blame F-35, they were only PLANNED to put into mass production RECENTLY, to be precise, 2012.

and there're about 8 other countries waiting in the line....

just ... wait ...

reference please - or don't say it.

Fenceline said it

Yes. I did. I have access to the frt. Maker is listed as Kalashnikov. For reference purposes, it has several frt entries already as a full auto and as a converted auto.

That being said, it may be an assumption by the lab. They might not have ever seen one to know. Given that Mr. Kalashnikov didn't design it, and it is a different operating system, it seems a little odd to call it a Kalashnikov.

There is an old frt listing the type 81s specifically listing it as being prohib as an ak variant but perhaps now that they have an example they will change there mind.

The Norinco 81s is a variant of the ak47. As such it is listed as prohibited as an ak variant under Orders/Legal Authority : PFR, Part 1, para. 64. It's frt is 21128. That is the screen shot you posted.

Fortunately the norinco 81s is not what a Type 81 is. Two completely different firearms. The type 81 is listed under 3 frt numbers... 67004 (full auto prohib), 67089 (c/a prohib) and 67047 (full auto prohib). They ARE NOT listed as AK variants, and are listed as prohibited under Section 84(1)(c) which is actually a good thing. 84(1)(c) speaks to prohibition by full auto or converted auto function, not to being prohib as a variant of a named prohib.

The make on all three is noted as "Kalashnikov".

FRT 67004 = "Kalashnikov Type 81 Rifle" Full Auto, Prohibited as full auto, not as an AK variant
FRT 67089 = "Kalashnikov Type 81 RPK Machine Gun" Converted Auto, Prohibited as a C/A not as an AK variant
FRT 67047 = "Kalashnikov Type 81 RPK Machine Gun" Full Auto, Prohibited as full auto, not as an AK variant

Very strange that they would put kalashnikov in there....
