SO they banned your ###X 7.62x39 rifle... so screw it lets go full tactical SKS

I knew as much this was coming. Soon semi auto's would be banned and you would come into my world of tacticool sporterized Lee Enfield!
 
Nothing wrong with Tapco, haha.

Before I lost my SKS in a boating accident some years ago, at a place I can't recall, I did the Tapco stock thing to it as well as the mags, and I found a few things.

1) All aftermarket stocks I have seen lack a proper lug for the receiver. So I installed one by marking the area on the stock the lug would go, drilled some holes, threaded the stock in place, and cut to flush, then bedded it down. The accuracy was the same or slightly better than the original. Could still hit a 12 x 16 gong at 300m. Just what it was designed to do.

2) The Spectre parts are well made, but they require significant mods to the Tapco mags to work properly. You'll need big hands to properly manipulate the mag release and I found it wasn't all that faster than the Tapco 'pull' type release I had before. Only with the Spectre setup you didn't have to drop the mags. I got both the block and the mag release, but only wound up using the latter. My stock lug is epoxied in place.

Found this post from XTriggerman from the USA, going to try to figure out the steps and see if i can get something like this going. the "FALKS" rifle.

picked up Chinese barreled receiver and got a FAL lower and im gonna see if i can glue it together
 
I think i might pull the front sight block off, restain the stock, i already bedded the rifle, it was a 4moa rifle at the range, i think i can get 2.5 out of this one, i got it on target at 400m but just got no joy at 500m, just to much spread to connect with the 10 inch gong.
 
Sks is actually a really good rifle when it is properly bedded. Now they are getting more expensive so people will pay more attention to them.
 
Honestly, I don't get the appeal of removable mags when limited to 5 rounds. Stripper clips are cheep and plentiful, and quick to use. Those large mags seem to just get in the way and often cause feed issues.
