not sure if you guys noticed this but it seems like Wolverine is taking a preemptive strive on that BC company that is getting SAM to make them some 1911's and have dropped thier prices on all of their SAMs.

i reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeealy like the SAM i have and my dad has 3 and they are all super nice...... so....... sooooooooo..... i had to cave in and pick up another SAM.

im not sure if anyone has been watching the prices of the SAMs but the thunderbolt is now like $550, and the stainless thunderbolt is just over $600.

the tactical commander (which i have) is just over $400 - unreal price for that gun!

so once again, im sorry, tell your wives im sorry but someone had to tell you guys about the price drop.

this may be the death of the Norinco 1911 in Canada!
(just kidding)
but anyone who would pay $380 for a Norinco instead of $375 for a SAM is crazy!

there dropping in price again? the retailers cant seem to get rid of them! geez I wonder why? but they wont drop the price on actual quality firearms like ruger, colt, smith etc etc etc these SAMs are a dime a dozen its sad to see the canadian market flooded with cheap knock off firearms such as norinco and SAM sorry to hear they are on sale

Ill take a sam over a ruger sr1911 anyday of the week and smith should stick to revolvers and the m&p that external extractor is worse then a d_ck on a chick. Unless you have owned one you have no ground to stand on, they can be sold cheaper becouse they dont have a massive mark up and are cheaper to produce.

Also please tell us what a knock off 1911 is?

Truth is that neither S&W, Ruger or SAM make a quality 1911. At least SAM is cheap...

Well, I picked up a SAM Commander 1911 9mm Enhanced a few weeks back. I've had it out to the range twice. The finish is pretty decent, out of the box accuracy is quite good and it has been 100 percent reliable, not one FTF or FTE. And less than $500.00 taxes in at my door. I can't complain about that! Great value in my opinion.

Dude you are on crack - and not even good quality crack!
ive got 2 SR1911's and a 2 Kimbers.
so i can actually compare the guns side by side and out at the range.
for the money the SAMs are the best 1911 on the market.
period. full stop. the fat lady is done and already off the stage.

we are not talking LB's class guns for the sub $500 you cant beat them.
hell, id say they are on par with my Ruger's.

So is it safe to sat a SAM is better quality than a norinco???

Not even close. The norinco is much better. Forged frame and parts, compared to cast and mim internals of the Sam. If you want a gun to look at the sam is fine, just don't expect the soft internals to hold up over the long run. The Sam is also a pain to install after market parts as its not built to spec. While the fit and finish might be better on the Sam neither of these things has anything to do with how well a gun will function.

I see what you are saying... I'm not overly impressed with anything norinco... I like my norinco woodsman and my grizzly... But I gotta say most norinco stuff is crap. Those two firearms were the only two I liked.

I have owned a couple of Norc and now have a SAM as well. I would take the SAM over the either of the Norcs. IMHO it is a big step above the Norc.
The Ruger 1911 is also a cast frame and uses MIM parts. Does that make the Norc better than the Ruger too?

It depends how you define better. Those can am norcs can be had for under $300, got one for $250. For what you get that's hard to beat. Looks and finish aside, there's not really any downsides. Why would you take the Sam over the norc, finish?

Have you actually handled/shot the SAM or just calling inferior because of things you have heard/read second hand? I didn't think much of them either until I actually used one...now I am a believer.

I handled the SAM the first year they showed up at the Gun Shows. I didn't get the impression that I should dump my Norc 1911C for one.
No better nor worse as far as I could tell.

M

if your saying that the norcs and sams are the same then youve never taken them apart and compared the guns.
i dont want to go on a norc bash because i like norcs, i have 4 of them.
but to say the guns are the same quality or *gasps* that norc is better then the same is just crazy talk.

fit and finish alone is so much better its a different ball game.
ive never cut myself on a sam - i can always tell when ive been playing with my norincos - my thumb and finger are bleeding.

the only thing that the norinco's have over the sam IMHO is heat treatment. norcs are fully heat treated where sams are spot.
MIM parts dont bug me, cast dosnt bother me.

both are good cheap guns, sams are just smoother and better put together - more detail to smoothing out the edges and the fit and finish.

Jeeze now I really have to check out a sam... I have shot a norco 911 and I have a woodsman. They are not great quality, it's easy to see. For the price I guess they are okay.
