sorry, dont hate me - SAMs are on sale on!

you can get a Lemon with anything.
ive shot and taken down 5 SAMs now and all 5 have been fantastic 1911's.
Norcs i think ive shot a dozen different one, own 4 currently, one of which i would classify as a Lemon.

Ive had norcs to, and was much happier with them. The other SAM my friend owns is also garbage, and Ive heard from friends of several more, so apparently there are alot of lemons

I have some Norc 1911's. Never had a lemon yet, there.

Wouldn't mind trying out a SAM to see how they compare, though.

Norinco:
+5100 grade steel
+cheap
+reliable
+forged parts
+chrome lined barrel
-sloppy fit and finish
-no warranty
-needs de-horning
-poor triggers

SAM:
+best fit and finish for your money by far
+super tight tolerences
+backed by warranty
+made by people who have been making guns their entire lives
+great triggers out of box
-cast+mim parts
-questionable service life
-4### steel
-non chrome lined barrel

I own both and shoot both, would go for a SAM any day of the week. I would trust my life with the norc though.

So which one do you like more? Or rather which one is better quality?

The SAM is much nicer to shoot, and use. It's of a better quality in terms of craftsmanship. The norinco is much more utilitarian and made by people who have never seen or held a quality firearm.

Well, makes sense. The Chinese people making norinco might not even know they are making a gun.

So, what we have here is an example of the truism that competition is a good thing, and a dealer that is possibly interested in clearing some old inventory before the new lot arrives.

A "sale" gets your product into the hands of some eternal fence sitters and is a means of increasing your market penetration for your product, stimulating future sales.

I've no education in business or economics and even *I* understand this...

Not even close. The norinco is much better. Forged frame and parts, compared to cast and mim internals of the Sam. If you want a gun to look at the sam is fine, just don't expect the ewsoft internals to hold up over the long run. The Sam is also a pain to install after market parts as its not built to spec. While the fit and finish might be better on the Sam neither of these things has anything to do with how well a gun will function.

Only the Nork plain jane GI still uses forged guts, the police and sport models are all mim/cast now. I had one of the new chromium models and it was a huge piece of ####....
That said the Norks are so loose and sloppy and poorly fit/finished there is no benefit to it having 5100 series steel and being forged.... Unless your plan is to have the frame rails welded up and recut, and throw out all the small parts that is.
SAM are sold in the US under American Tactical Imports, lots of positive reviews there BTW

fair comparison !!!

It must be significantly better than the non-E series I used to have.

The E Series, while although still very much a mass-production gun, are a significant departure from the older series of S&W 1911s. For what they are, they are very good. I would put the E-Series near the top of the heap for mass produced 1911s.

What's the difference, other than the redesigned extractor?

I'll be having a good look at a 9mm SAM shortly...it will be on my bench for a while and I will probably shoot it a bit - maybe 500 to a thousand rounds.

In general I have not been impressed with Philippino 1911s but I haven't looked at one recently. We'll see how they did at getting the short, mild round to feed.

I think with good mags it'll probably run fine.

9mm commander has a nice feel to it.

Good ammo helps as well.

I don't care for the finish on my omega. I'd like to polish and blue the flats, perhaps. I just don't like rough matte finishes
