sorry, dont hate me - SAMs are on sale on!

Rails in classic now? Cool. I got the SAM in the mail today and had a look at it. Wow is it nice compared to the Norincos I've been shooting. I'll have to see how this one shoots, but I think I can see one in my future too, a blued 45. I won't get to try it until after my wife's birthday in April, but if it shoots half as nice as it looks, it'll be a real winner.

since they where on sale i picked up a Stainless Thunderbolt as well.
its in the mail as we speak.

i had told myself to more 1911's - i have enough!
i was suppose to be fleshing out a couple other guns i have on my want list, but i just couldn't pass up that SS Thunderbolt for over $100 off.

That's a really good looking gun and would have a hard time not buying one myself.. I think it's one of the nicest SAMs.

New SAMs will have chrome-lined barrels.

No, the new barrels will be made out of chromoly steel (chromium and molybdenum). This steel is extremely tough and wear resistant -- but it does not offer any greater corrosion resistance than normal steel.

I dislike chrome-plated barrels, myself, as they detract from accuracy.

not sure if you guys noticed this but it seems like Wolverine is taking a preemptive strive on that BC company that is getting SAM to make them some 1911's and have dropped thier prices on all of their SAMs.

i reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeealy like the SAM i have and my dad has 3 and they are all super nice...... so....... sooooooooo..... i had to cave in and pick up another SAM.

im not sure if anyone has been watching the prices of the SAMs but the thunderbolt is now like $550, and the stainless thunderbolt is just over $600.

the tactical commander (which i have) is just over $400 - unreal price for that gun!

so once again, im sorry, tell your wives im sorry but someone had to tell you guys about the price drop.

this may be the death of the Norinco 1911 in Canada!
(just kidding)
but anyone who would pay $380 for a Norinco instead of $375 for a SAM is crazy!

Wayupnorth....I just wanted to let you know that because of this thread....after 3 years since I got my RPAL...I fell off the edge and bought my first handgun!! I fell in love and just could not get my mind off of "that picture!!:)"....ended up buying a Stainless SAM Thunderbolt! Not to mention Brent didn't make it any easier with meeting my requests for some customer work on the gun and giving me "gold standard" customer service. Again!

I can't wait to get it! Thanks a LOT!! :)

Damnnnnnnnn son!

look what the post man dropped off today!
i am very impressed!

i wanted a shiny 1911 and my 2 Ruger SR1911's are not shiny.
this one IS shiny!

ill go into it later but quick highlight reel for this one;
SAM Thunderbolt Stainless Version 2 (the version one is like the Ruger kind of a dull stainless or 'brushed stainless' i think they call it)
gun has some weight to it!!!!
front and rear slide serration (which i like)
extended slide release (which i like being a left handed shooter, easier to hit with my trigger finger
extended AMBI saftey (nice touch)
built in mag well with the main house spring (saves me $80 to buy one)
very aggressive pattern on the mag release
front strap cuts - my first 1911 with this - me likey!
rear target sites

just took it out of the box and give it a quick wipe with a cloth to get the oil off.
slide to frame finish is super nice, cycles real smooth - no rattling at all.

ill take it to the range tomorrow and report back.

Beauty! Can't wait to get mine in the mail:) ! I wonder if they are all version 2 and are all just as shiny? I hope so as that's the look I was hoping for.

Can we get some more pictures of all y'alls SAMs?

I was surprised by the apparent finish quality on that stainless. Can anyone show me that I am underestimating the finish quality on these guns?

your wife called me, she wanted me to tell you that you dont want one of these - they are nasty and bad.

ive got a couple Norc's and now 2 SAMs, one of each finish.
the tactical 1911 Commander i have its finish is like a Parkarization finish where this stainless V2 is a nice deep warm shine.
i havnt seen the Govt SAMs which i would assume would have the normal bluing finish on them.

as for my Norcs, my norc that came with the ammo deal has a fantastic bluing on it.
the one my dad just got was not bad, nothing to write home about.
and my 2 older Norc's are the 2 color ones and they are ok.

comparing all my norcs to my sam's i give SAM the win.
though i would like to see SAM's normal bluing finish so i can compare apples to apples.

as to the fit and finish SAM has norinco by a long way.
sams are dehorned and smoother out, no milling marks or anything like that.
they are also hand fit.

but norcs are a better metal and are heat treated where SAMs are just spot heat treated.

you best bet is to buy one of each, hehe!
