Had my first go at the "dish soap" method.

Have some ideas how to improve next time but came out ok I think.
Its so ugly that its Hot! I like it.
I've been thinking about this thread recently, so I feel a bump is in order. I have a buddy with one of those Cricut things and he's offered it to me cheap on numerous occasions (seems his wife bought it on a whim and rarely uses it). Could I print out "camo shapes" either in woodland blobs, or digital squares, or leaves, then spray and remove. I'm thinking for, say, 3 colour woodland to make a base of OD green, then when it's dry add a layer of vinyl shapes and spray another colour. After it dries, repeat the process overlapping the vinyl cutouts. Or have people tried this and had issues like the paint flaking/peeling when the vinyl is removed. Just intuitively I feel a glossy paint would work better for vinyl adhesion than a matte paint?
Oh dude, you just described exactly what I'm doing to my ACR. Just have to make sure it's the removable vinyl, and go nuts. If you think about camouflage patterns being layered when they're applied, it's usually the darkest shapes that are smallest or last. Work in reverse order when doing stencils. The darkest colour goes on first and then you apply your first layer of stencils for those sparse dark spots. The tan or lightest layer goes on last.

Both these look really good! Awesome work. I'd be interested to see how they hold up. On one hand, the worn look can give the firearm some real character. On the other hand, a nice camo job like this, it'd be a shame to spoil it which is where the cerakote is awesome
Thanks! Judging from my M4 that I painted with the same Tamiya paints in 2018, it'll wear nicely;
