Spray painted rifles

Dragging this old thread back up, been pretty depressing here on cgn lately with all the liberal/tariff drama. Also nothing interesting lately in the black rifle thread. Need to see some rattle canned rifles! Show how you wrecked your spensive rifle with spray bombs.

My mock-12 spr, couldn't wait for the paint to dry, had some tan and od on my face for a couple days after larping in the gun room. Can't shoot it, might as well add a lb of paint to it.

(It's 12.5 lbs with the optic, sans mag). I imagine it has almost zero recoil, but don't know for sure. Maybe some day....

Oh no what have you done. Now they won’t give you top dollar for the buyback.

Your rifle and paint job look great!

Good timing for this thread, we have a stock that needs some cosmetic care
Has anyone 3d printed a stencil in cadpat or similar to use?
Would buy a set of the right stuff

They've been coming for me and everyone else for years.

No idea what's going to shake out, so I'm going to do what I want in the meantime.

If a confiscation happens I'm out so much already that one more rifle posted online isn't going to make it much worse.

Bought a can of Rustoleum Camo in OD green today since it was on clearance at my local CanTire. Going to see how well it holds up painting a few small pieces on a crypto like the mag release, bolt catch, and ejection port cover. I'm hoping with a light sanding, paint, and matte clearcoat it might hold up ok?

Nice build! Specs? What's the optic?

It likely won't, rustoleum is what I use and it does wear fairly easily.

I've never put clear over it though, I could be wrong.

It holds up well with good surface prep and a clear coat from my experience, it’s not as durable as a baked on finish but once it cures it’s pretty good. I’m pretty sure I gave mine two coats of matte clear and it’s still looking fine.

Picture quality is not hte best
i haev done stencils once, woudl avoid again personally

I really like the sponge point option. easy to do, forgiving and very repairable

I tried stencils a couple times, way harder than just going freehand and living with what you get.

If I put too much effort into it with stencils or patterns I'd just wreck it the first time I used it anyway. Nothing wrong with putting more effort into it though, whatever method a person prefers.

I cut my own stencils, usually to do a tiger stripe pattern, out of painters tape.

Always had good results.
