SR22 Rifle Questions

Nice!... So is that a 10" barrel and a 6 1/2" HG in the picture?

10" bbl, yep. Exact HG measurements, not incl the locking ring are 6" top, and 4-7/8" bottom.

I'll edit out my remarks about OAL. You know how when you learn something wrong the first time, it takes a while before the right answer sinks in... :)

I've photoshopped in the mission first and the socom stocks... the socom stock being about $150 MORE than the mission first is a factor. What do you think?

Not exactly a short barrel, but have to give a shout out to Tom E Gun for answering questions and providing links to his build.

Had to take it half apart to apply locktite, so hopefully I can really work it out once I get home from work in a couple of weeks. Dlask rails, Bushnell .22 scope, Archangel magazine, 8"-13" bipod, added the rubber pad from an AR stock to it and removed the front RDS as well.

New SR-22 Build

I thought that for fun I would do another SR-22 build. I am going to try to sell this on the EE to cover my expenses. Here is what I have:

Here is what is included, all items are brand new and unfired:

ARFX stock with all hardware, (sling swivel and rubber butt pad included but not shown)
Nordic/SR-22 3 piece chassis (all fasteners and gap filler included)
Ruger 10/22 receiver, bolt (50th Anniversary), charging handle/spring, V-block, screws and 10 round magazine
Hogue pistol grip and carbine length fore end (all fasteners included)

The only items required to finish the build are a barrel, a muzzle device and an optic and/or sights

^ your upper & lower fit better than any Nordic/Ruger SR chassis I have seen. All of the ones I've laid hands on had some kind of gap along that seam. Did you do anything to make the fit so precise?

Now that I have screwed on the pistol grip, I notice that the chassis does not quite fit as well, so I suspect the attachment screw is too long? Should be an easy fix.

Hmm, that is odd. I didn't think the PG screw would contact the action.

I noticed in my most recent SR, the bbl is again noticeably off-centre in the HG. If you put one of those IET covering rings on the HG, the top of the bbl nearly touches the inner opening of the cover, and there is a large gap at the bottom. Perhaps not coincidentally, this SR still has the bi-pod lug / bbl support in the HG. I wonder if that is pushing up on the bbl? Its a stock SR, never had the bbl out of the action.

My buddy has a stock SR22 and he installed a IET brush guard . His barrel looks off center also, also inside the handguard is a barrel support block . Looks kinda strange but he said it works fine.

This was setting off my OCD, so I took out the bbl support, but because I wanted to retain the sling stud, I just filed the support block down.

Barrel does not contact the support block and is now perfectly centered in the IET part / HG.
