SR22 Rifle Questions

Tons of great info and great looking rimfires! I have been itching to buy an sr22 for months but can't find any in stock locally (Calgary area) or online through the sponsors. Anyone know who has some in stock?

Bowzys setup is awesome and the pic of DocBurN's is really something else.

Here's a couple pics of two of my previous SR22 builds ... a mixture of different variations

That's true.
How is the fit and finish of the Nordic foreend with end caps combo? Are they suppose to fit perfectly?
I love the Hogue Overmolded foreend from Brownells. Just love the non slip rubber on the foreend and clean looks. I'm also look into the stock option such AR15 ARFX or ACE ......etc.

You guys has build the awesome SR22 and they are beautiful.

Great share.

I can't speak to the Nordic Fore end (assume you mean hand guard?) as I just bought the chassis parts. If you mean the threaded bbl nut on the front assy of the Nordic, its basically identical to Ruger SR22, and the threads matched for the hogue HG. One small point - the threads are the front are a little long, so the HG 'bottoms out' before being able to be screwed totally flush to the front of the chassis. I suppose it would not be too big a deal to cut a few threads off the bbl nut if you wanted a flush fit.

I might some day tap the top of the hogue for an upper rail.

Holly, someone has money to blow!!!
If they were so good, why would you sell them?
Just my thoughts but I could be wrong.
Seems like you are the posterboy for 10/22 buy then sell at a loss.

:p

Those were over the course of a couple years since they came out. One funded another, and yes I was foolish with my money when I was young(er) ;)

Your build was awesome. Really love the mix and match idea and the FDE cerakote.
It is all about enjoying the build process rather than anything. Create something you like which is priceless.
I love to build on 10/22 since it is simple to work on and tons of information and parts. It's a fun little gun to plink without hurting your pocket.

Al Simmons in Hamilton is showing them in stock.

Thanks Grumpy! Got back from Thanksgiving with the fam and saw your message. Gave em a call but looks like Lycan did beat me to it!

Threaded barrel too... the hunt continues...

Anyone know the FRT number for the SR-22 rifle? At my range, people mistake it from distance to be an AR "style". Just want to know what the FRT number is in case police or a Conservation officer asks, so I can be prepared. You know it does look pretty "scary and evil" for a .22! :)

I've been watching the EE casually for a while. Lots for sale at near retail prices with mods I'd like to try myself (which is what lead me to this thread to begin with). If I find something I really like I'll jump, but would like to buy new. I am fairly new to the hobby but one thing I've learned this last year is patience seems to be the name of the game.

Update

My much anticipated SR22 arrived in the mail yesterday. I have already removed the stock barrel (for sale in the EE) and installed a Dlask 8". My preference was for a 10" barrel and a XB5 Flashhider/Muzzle brake combination which would have protruded about 1-2" past the fore end. However no 10" barrels were available. I decided to go with an 8" and a fake suppressor to achieve the same +/- overall length. I may switch to a 10" when they become available. In the pictures I have just rested a GSG 1911 fake suppressor in place to simulate the final look (the GSG is a different thread pattern and diameter). I am now debating whether to keep the sliding stock (o/a length 26.25" when collapsed) or replace it with this really nice skeleton stock, which looks and feels great but is quite a bit longer.

Here is the SR22 compared to a couple of other short .22's:

Thanks to the below tip from NorthShoreX, there's one in the mail to me as we speak from Lever Arms in Vancouver BC. Very Nice people, AND they mailed it an hour after purchase! They also have at least one more in stock... so you better hurry anderschuck!

From their website:

Ruger SR 22 autoloading rifle with threaded barrel

Model: SR-22RSC
Ruger catalogue #:1236
Stock: Black Synthetic, collapsible
Overall Length: 33"-.36"
Weight: 6.50 lbs.
Length of pull:13.00"
Finish:Blued
Barrel length:16.12"
Sights:Rapid Deploy Sights
Height: 7.00"
Width: 2.00"
Twist: 1:16" RH
Grooves: 6

When I talked to them on the phone the sales staff verified it 'came with a collapsible stock and threaded barrel' (LOL @ no flash hider included in Canada, guess that would make it too 'evil').

However Ruger's webstite has the SR-22RSC showing Rapid Deploy Sights and a Black (fixed?) Synthetic stock...

SR-22RDS is the model that includes the collapsible stock...

Al Simmons said they just sold the last SR-22RTE (Removable Threaded End) model which also had the collapsible stock... however I can't find anything on that model from Ruger.

So who knows what model they actually sent me, but we'll find out after the weekend when it arrives. Model numbers are a bit confusing but may have received some mis-information from the sales staff about the stock based on a potential error on Lever Arms webpage. (note they also have an image where it says 'model 1236 features a fixed length stock')

Thanks to this thread it may not matter, I can't wait to rip er apart and burn a pile of money making it my own. This seems like it's gonna get a bit expensive!

LeadMonkey;
Good find! My used SR22 is the type without the threaded barrel and without the short front rail & folding sights. I like the look of your newer model.

I learned something useful from the pictures you posted. I was wondering why mine has a gap between the pistol grip and trigger guard, but yours does not. Then I looked through some of the spare bits and pieces that came with mine and found a little soft rubber block that pushes in to fill the gap.

I decided to mount the Ace stock on mine:

It makes it 3" longer than the stock version when fully collapsed, but I love how comfortable it is and like the look too.

Update and Range Report

I finally had some range time with the SR-22. Last weekend I went to a friends backyard range and did some function testing. This weekend I went to my local gun club range and tried out the SR-22 with an inexpensive, used, 1-4x scope I picked up on the EE.

The function testing went very well. It cycled everything except CCI "Quiet 22" which I have never had luck with in any semi auto. It worked great with Rem Subsonic, Fed Auto Match, Fed Bulk, Blazer, Stinger, Mini-Mag and Stinger. It even loaded and fired CB Long, although it had to be cycled by hand. The targets are from today at 25 yds with Fed Bulk, one 3 round group and one 50 round rapid fire.
