SR22 (ruger rifle) mag reviews

the hc3r mags are the ones with a stripper clip and works well enough. there is a little bit of a learning curve in making sure that they are seated correctly. however, you save MUCH more time because of the stripper clips than you will spend making sure its seated (its actually quite fast when you know how to do it).

also, this may be something simple it does help if the bolt is open when you insert the mag. this usually isnt an issue with the 10 round ruger mags but with the 25 rounders it can make a difference.

i suppose i could do the last shot hold open mod to it too... just for convenience, it works with the match bolt i have. but yeah.

looks like im gonna get some new mags

hical tells me to take apart the battledyne and stretch the spring/tape it. feels like a sloppy piece of #### though.. wish it would rock nicely its a ###y as hell mag.

most of the issues seem to be the lips and head of some mags dont allow the cartirdge to stick out enough to be caught by the bolt... a little filing might help that.

as for the prohibited thing, thats utter garbage, i agree.

I have multiple BC steel and a couple of Champion steel lips. They all work fairly well after a) leaving them loaded for a while and b) a small shot of graphite down the mag. Seems to help things move around inside the mag. Yes, I do still get the occasional ftf but that seems to be more ammo related, more often with a lead bullet than anything plated. I also found that the Win Dynapoint GT works best for my SR-22 by a long shot.

since im almost always shooting on a bench with the stock in my shoulder i can pull the slide back with my right hand, insert the mag with my left, and then just release the slide and it works just fine.

and the last shot hold open mod will probably have other unintended issues with 25 round mags. i know they work decently well with the ruger mags an stock trigger pack but as soon as you use aftermarket stuff and trigger mods it will probably impact the reliability. i know i dont even have the option of using that. the full kidd trigger packs (especially the 2-stage) arent compatable

This was discussed last October 2014.

Now my questions are:

Is this RCMP Senior Technician "Authorized" to release theses statements about prohibitions?

Was there an "Official" memo released by the RCMP about the validity of the statements stated by this senior technician?

nope looks like it was bogus, one mans INCORRECT opinion.

its a .22 rimfire... no mag restrictions other than the pistol crossover.. which really shouldnt be a thing either for a .22 pistol using those ruger mags.

in canada the role of the RCMP and firearms owners are as follows:
RCMP - communicate as little as possible to canadians so that at any moment you can make unilateral decisions citing opinions from any source which you spent years ignoring thus making a large amount of canadian firearm owners federal criminals overnight.
Firearm owners - continue to pursue your hobby and/or livelihood knowing that everything you own is borderline illegal and can be made illegal enough to land you in jail based upon the whim of unelected officials with no oversight quicker than you can squeeze out a fart. oh.... and be labeled the bad guy...

someone please make an all metal, (or at the very least internally) and high quality controlled 110 round drum mag for the SR22, and charge me $200 for it.
I will take two, minimum. :)
50 round double stack stick mags with a reliable feeding mechanism at $80 each too, no problem, 6 of them right here please.

for something reliable you would need so much spring pressure that it would probably start denting cases for a drum mag. as for double stacked mags i dont know why people havent tried.

the battledyne in particular is frustrating,
i pulled it apart to stretch the spring as dave at hical suggests, added about an inch to overall length... mild increase in spring tension.

however, the follower is the same, and it angles the round improperly... so the bolt misses the primer end of the round, and impacts either the case (denting it) or the head (shaving the bullet, or just about bending the head of the bullet right off).

that happens on other mags as well..

I will chime in here, I have 2 TI-25 metal mags for my SR22. The only .22 ammo that runs out of them reliably are CCI stingers. Stingers case are a bit longer than cheap box .22 ammo. It seems when I run cheap box .22 ammo in the TI-25 mags when the next round feeds and the bolt comes forward it bends the head of the .22 ammo, worse on non-jacketed .22 but still happens even with cheap jacketed .22 ammo. I have adjusted the mag up and down and doesn't seem to make a difference.

Maybe someone has a trick that I don't know about?

Kind of sucks cause I paid a lot for the TI-25 metal mags they are real nice and look nice but I wish they would feed cheap stuff :( :( :( :(

Stick with the factory 10 rounder. Zero issues. I have tried every mag currently available on the market today (except drum mags cause whats the point lol) and none of them fed reliably. Wish i grabbed some bx25 while they were available :(

even if you bught a BX25 when you could up here they would still be prohibited now. personally i wouldnt want to rish federal prison over a BX25 mag. i would just use one of the other brands.

I take them apart and clean them with a clp (gunzilla) and every once in a while give them a squirt to keep the springs lubed. I do still get the odd jame but few.

Nope! After trying every mag i could get my hands (purchased or borrowed) on i wasnt going to risk $100 on trying it out. Ill just stick with whats proven. 3 Rotary 10 rounders on a tri coupler.
