Stag10 build short stroking issues resloved !! I needed a Armalite gas tube ??

Best gear reviewer on YT is Garand Thumb ! the granddaddy of flannel drop loads of knowledge every week :)

I find that YT now is full of guys that get paid to review gear and is just industry mental masturbation. So thats why i stay away from it since its all bias crap.

I built a Stag 10 in 6.5cm , was short stroking 98% of the time even with the adjustable gas block opened all the way. Tried a new gas block , tried a different BCG all kinds of ammo , no luck . i have a 20'' Faxon Big Gunner barrel, its a DPMS LR308 pattern barrel with a rifle length gas system , also using a Faxon BCG .

I used a rifle length AR15 gas tube but then i noticed the gas tube was not protruding into the upper as much as my AR15 rifles , seemed too short in there .. After some research i found that the Armalite gas tubes are just a bit longer , so i ordered a rifle length Armalite tube installed it and she runs like a champ!! I thought DPMS LR308 pattern barrels and uppers use AR15 tube lengths? or is this just a issue with the Faxon barrel ? Hope this helps someone else .. If your gas tube looks like the one in the top pic get a Armalite tube!

Where did you find the armalite gas tube?

Yup I called wolverine, no plans to order more. Forget who it was but he tried to convince me that a regular ar 15 gas tube will work... well I just want the parts on hand just in case it dont. Atrs uses regular ar tubes. Idk I'm on bord that the protrusion into the gas key should be the same as an ar 15...

definitely something to keep in mind when I build mine... Fulton barrel = Fulton (AR10) gas tube, would've missed that without you guys

Man how did I miss this thread,
My stag 10 is doing the exact same thing. Short stroking and fails to pick the next round. I’ve changed out the gas block, no change. Tried all types of ammo with no luck :(
I think I need to find an Armalite gas tube...

Anyone know where I can find one? Will they ship from the states? Now the hunt begins...

I almost did as well when I ordered from them. But while talking on the phone they told me I needed it. Those guys a Fulton are top notch, heck I ended up buying a M1 Garand from them just because of the good CS they give... And that thing was also top notch and perfect! Make sure you also get the HP BCG they offer. That thing is also flawless.

Just placed the order at noname armory for the barrel and tube (and a AP M5 buffer tube assy), didn’t see Fulton bcg there but I think I’m going to go with the Brownells nitride one, price is pretty hard to pass and some people here say it’s pretty good (likely Aero Precision made).

The Brownells 308 BCG is very nice as well. I used to have one and it actually surprised me how well its made for the price point they sell it at.

Test fired mine with an Odin works gas tube and it seems to shoot fine but it doesn't lock back on the final round even with the gas cranked to the max! Guess I need a longer gas tube.

With what barrel are you running? Do you have the shorter .308 buffer installed or reg ar 15?

Just shopping around on brownells there are atleast 3 different ar 15 'rifle' lenth gas tubes it seems. 15-1/8, 15-3/16, 15-1/4 I wonder how many differences there are in internal diameters of the tubing as well??

So now we need a list of all the barrels made with the armalite gas port location. So far its definatly Fulton, maybe faxon, and possibly maple ridge? That's just from reading here about short stroking problems.

I can’t seem to find one, every place I look at doesn’t ship to Canada :( my google skills are substandard to say the least
Can someone direct me to a place that has the longer gas tubes in stock? Link?
Canada or state side that will ship
