Thanks for posting that!
I thought for the longest time that glocks were stupid, then shot one and fell in love. I turned out to be very good with that gun and competed well in ipsc. The glock was the last of many polymer pistols I owned, hk, walther, sig, etc had them all. Always kept the glock.
That goes to say! Never say never because I always thought these steyrs were ugly as sin, nonetheless, I am considering going back to the polymer game (been shooting other platforms) and it is going to be the steyr or the arsenal firearms type B or Strike one. I havemy reservations about the arsenal firearms guns but I am attracted to the design, very low into the hand and the barrel does not move.
However the steyr seems just as low and I like that it has lots of meat on the frame to have a thumbs forward grip without interfering with the slide. This grip style is notorious for interfering with the slide and it will increase chances of a stove pipe, as a matter of fact, there are some videos about this on YT about the strike one/b but anyway...
Not going to go back to glock, simply cant do it, the sights and trigger is sub par conoared to other makes and dont want to sownd the money and time to make it better. I am looking for an out of the box experience, ideally 3lbs trigger.
The steyr seems to be around 4lbs, and the trapezoid sights are questionablw but I will give them a go. Other things, the gun does not seem to have a lot of support so finding common perishable parts such as recoil springs, extractors, seem challenging. That is what glock has for them...
Last, I have to say although it wont win a beauty contest, in my experience, unless it is an svi, most ugly pistols are the ones that shoot the best : grand power xcalibur comes to mind, accurate as hell but sold it for being very unreliable (to me).
