Steyr L9-A2 Canadian arrival?

Haven’t heard a thing. A thread about this pistol popped up a few weeks back but no one seemed to know much. I love the look and like I said in the other thread, if extraction issues have been worked out, I’m in.

didn't know they made a 2.0 version, looks like it has better ergos and modular frame. I think this pistol is highly under rated and never got the respect it deserves. hope this new itineration does better.

Been watching videos of this gun. It looks like a total winner. The ergos of a Hk P30/vp9 with modularity and different frames...

The extraction problems are from gen 1, the newest gen is the 4th gen.

Have not tried one, but it does look very good!

I honestly think they look like an eyesore compared to the older models. Some of the changes are great, like the truly modular frame, but the rest I just don't care for. I was so disappointed with this direction I actually went out and bought an L9A1 before they're gone for good.

That said, if you can get over the looks, it's still basically the same gun - which is good! Very accurate, great trigger, very low muzzle flip, unique sights. Steyr did the modular frame first, and did it best - the internal chassis is a milled hunk of steel that fits tightly to the slide with uniquely-shaped rails, it's really a gorgeous piece of work. Every other handgun manufacturer has been playing catchup to Steyr for the last 15 years - but Steyr has never had any interest in promoting their excellent handguns, so they probably didn't even know it.

Thanks for posting that!
I thought for the longest time that glocks were stupid, then shot one and fell in love. I turned out to be very good with that gun and competed well in ipsc. The glock was the last of many polymer pistols I owned, hk, walther, sig, etc had them all. Always kept the glock.
That goes to say! Never say never because I always thought these steyrs were ugly as sin, nonetheless, I am considering going back to the polymer game (been shooting other platforms) and it is going to be the steyr or the arsenal firearms type B or Strike one. I havemy reservations about the arsenal firearms guns but I am attracted to the design, very low into the hand and the barrel does not move.
However the steyr seems just as low and I like that it has lots of meat on the frame to have a thumbs forward grip without interfering with the slide. This grip style is notorious for interfering with the slide and it will increase chances of a stove pipe, as a matter of fact, there are some videos about this on YT about the strike one/b but anyway...

Not going to go back to glock, simply cant do it, the sights and trigger is sub par conoared to other makes and dont want to sownd the money and time to make it better. I am looking for an out of the box experience, ideally 3lbs trigger.

The steyr seems to be around 4lbs, and the trapezoid sights are questionablw but I will give them a go. Other things, the gun does not seem to have a lot of support so finding common perishable parts such as recoil springs, extractors, seem challenging. That is what glock has for them...

Last, I have to say although it wont win a beauty contest, in my experience, unless it is an svi, most ugly pistols are the ones that shoot the best : grand power xcalibur comes to mind, accurate as hell but sold it for being very unreliable (to me).

They Steyr has a really good trigger thanks to it's clever design, the striker and the sear are sloped surfaces that slide against eachother. My experience is that Steyr's customer service is great. When I got my first L9 back in 2013, they came with 3-dots instead of the traps. I wrote Steyr in Austria asking if I could buy a set of trap sights from them and they mailed me a set for free.

I emailed the Canadian distributor, Vault Distribution, today and they responded: “We just had the A2 approved by the RCMP, with a new FRT number a few weeks ago, so it is only legal to import into Canada now. That being said it will be sometime till we see them.”

So that’s good news, but we’re still likely 3-5 months way from seeing anything.

Thats good progress thanks for the update, i might have to grab one of these they look awesome

Why not? The poster above is saying Vault Distribution is working on importing them. Do you know different?

Vault Distribution is not anymore the Canadian Steyr Mannlicher Importer/Distributor. Herr Oliver Bauer, International Sales Manager, from Steyr Arms GmbH, told me so yesterday (email).

Nordic Marksman Inc. IS NOW the official Canadian Steyr Mannlicher Importer/Distributor.

The question is why Vault Distributor has lost it to Nordic Marksman. I do not know the answer to that question but maybe I will know soon - maybe.

Nothing against Nordic Marksman, nothing at all - they are honest, trustworthy and reliable. Excellent choice.
