would need to see some more accuracy testing out to 50m, but ya, on paper this looks like something I would be interested in.

The people saying this needs to be priced to compete with a little badger have no idea what they're talking about. A break action rimfire with terrible plastic rails and sights != a single shot, centerfire, takedown bolt action. Assuming the rail on the stowaway is at least aluminum, there's no comparison to be made. It's really impressive these guys managed to get this in at .1lbs lighter than the little badger at the same barrel length.

I love my little badgers, they do a great job and are priced well... I would not bother replacing them for a Stowaway in .22lr or .22wmr, the Stowaway offers reloadable centerfire options which is clearly not the same use case as the Chiappa's.

5.7X28 is an interesting round with apparently 2-3 times the energy of a .22WMR. when fired from a pistol length barrel and around 20% more vellocity out of rifle length barrels. Seems to be more benefit in shorter barrels.

It will be interesting to see what else these guys come up with down the road for caliber options..... .22 hornet would be another step up in energy.

It will also be interesting to see what the Centerfire Big Badger finally lands at price wise in Canada and how it performs.

$550-600 for base firearm that has no sights or ability to hold extra ammunition from the factory.

$200 to change caliber if the bolt face matches.

$275-300 for a bolt/barrel combo if bolt doesn't suit caliber you want to shoot.

So well into the $800 plus before any taxes or shipping fee's just to go from factory 5.7x28 to anything else.

22WMR ammunition on average is around half the cost of 5.7x28 as well.

The take down procedure is primitive and slow compared to simply folding the gun in half.

You can deploy, load then fire a Little Badger rifle near silently where as that seems near impossible for the Stowaway.

Making a lot of noise during survival or hunting is a huge negative.

There is quite a bunch of aftermarket goodies available for the Little Badger as well, 3d printed furniture is a prime example.

Even a 12 or 20 gauge single barrel shotgun with a X-Caliber insert set would be simpler and cheaper.

By what measure are they useless in a survival rifle? In a survival situation 5.7x28 and 9mm both have advantages over 22 lr or wmr - more effective on big game, whether they have 4 legs or two for example.

If it's capable of 5.7 there's a good chance it's capable of 223 too - 5.7 is a 50k psi cartridge.

Nothing wrong with the little Badger (Except the fact that a Savage rascal is lighter). But having centrefire cartridge options gives you more capabilities.

They should do a 7.62x25 barrel! That would be interesting.

the x-caliber set on it's own is $680, add the cheapest, turkishest shotgun youncan find and you're still at 800 before taxes and that's not coming in under 3 lbs and it's not going to have sights either.

Your only valid point is that it will be a bit noisier than the little badger but the idea here would not be to be assembling it when you see the rabbir or grouse, but to have it ready to go and simply pull back the cocking piece which won't be any louder than any other bolt action hunting rifle?


as to ammo not on the rifle, are you not planning on having pockets in this scenario, are you often naked and lost with a rifle? keep the extra rounds in your prison wallet with your head, i guess.

You can pick up the 20 gauge X-Caliber set for less then $270 before tax right now from a site sponsor, as well as find the inserts on other online postings.

Running around with a pocket full of cartridges making a bunch of noise may be your style so have fun with that.

For the marketed intentions of this firearm it makes sense for it to have some sort of cartridge holder included to make it a true stowaway platform so you can just grab it and go whenever you need.

Shop around for the best deals out there instead of getting upset. ;)

I haven't used those particular adapters, but the ones I have are only slightly better than useless. Certainly not something I'd want to rely on if I needed to score dinner.

The big advantage I see in this gun is it's weight. At sub-3lb it's much lighter than any single shot I've owned, even my 18" single shot is over 5lb.
 
The adapters are kind of cool in an end of the world scrounging random ammo and being able to possibly shoot it accurately kind of way..... they don't load, extract and eject as smoothly or quickly as the Stoaway either so when if you miss a shot there is a bit more fumbling involved.
 
Too many opinions here, kinda good someway but sometime it's overwhelming the dealer's post.

I mean simply Yes and No answer should be efficient, caliber type or accessories should be helpful to the dealer to save shipping cost.

Haters gonna hate..... :)

It's a yes for me, given that there is currently only one caliber availlable Marstar will have to wait a while but that also gives them time to ask about a Cdn run of mid length (12.5") custom barrels since we are not restricted with the Short Barrel rifle nonsense that our American cousins deal with...... :)
