Seriously though if I travel to hunt and/or pay a bunch of money, I always take a spare scope in rings that I have previously mounted and sighted in on that rifle, as well as primary one on rifle. Never had to use it yet, but way better insurance than sights.
thats actually pretty sound reasoning.
not many guns that come from the factory nowadays come with iron sights, and the ones that do are usually crap.
by the time you factor in the cost of a decent set of irons, gunsmith installation, barrel refinishing, etc you could have bought a quality 4x scope instead. with any weaver/picatinny mount or Ruger rifle you can just tip the scope off and replace it. few shots to zero and youre set.
