Suggestion for a Tikka T3 Lite

Haven`t shot a t3 lite in a larger caliber but do love mine in 204. Great to carry after yotes and i did get the aluminum bolt shroud from CGNer Flick. As for the scope for a little more you can pick up a Zeiss conquest 3x9 on sale for under 500 bucks. I would have to agree that the 06 in a light rifle will be punishing after an extended range session, mine is an older Sako thats 1.5-2 lbs heavier.

I own the 300WSM in the hunter recoil was punishing then added the limbsaver and now it's like my .270 or buddies 30/06. I would go 300WSM never know when you are going to hunt open areas or different provinces.

I have the T-3 in Hunter Stainless...don't get bent over guys telling you there is "plastic" on the gun...these guys must use their rifles for axes if these parts are breaking...I have a Rem 660 that has a plastic floorplate and trigger guard from 1970...it hasn't broken or melted in 40 plus years, go figure...?

Just picked up one in the stainless synthetic. I am still fairly new to hunting and put on relatively inexpensive glass (didn't have much of a budget), went with vortex diamondback as they are good product for the money from what I can tell. As for things you should know before buying (you probably already bought one but here goes anyway) bolt shroud is plastic and feels cheap, and magazine feels flimsy even though I have heard they are fairly durable. Honestly though its light, accurate, and a great firearms and you wont be sorry for buying one. Pro's heavily outweigh the cons.

Thank you very much for your input. I actually didnt buy it yet but still planing to do so (hunting season is a few months away and went into the rpal world and also planned on a 1911 so the tikka project got pushed back.

I dont plan to break the bank either with the glass.. Just enough to get a good quality vs money. People has been hunting since forever and they didnt had range finder.. Red dots.. Laser.. Gps guided air strike missiles. I should be able to hunt something :)

The only question i still have about the tikka is.. Beside the Lite.. Should i push for another tikka like the Hunter.. Or something else in the tikka line?

I also change the wanted caliber every week that has passed since this post.. And from a sure thing 30-06.. I want a 308 now. (No particular reason.. And i will reload them)

I have a T3 lite in 338w I bought off cgn. It is not a fun range gun to shoot but it sure puts a smackdown on moose and deer. After market pad makes it bearable to shoot off the bench. I had rings that attached to the dovetail on the receiver, they got tore right off. Theyy were replaced with talleys which work great. It is a nice gun to carry all day. Mine has been carried a lot in the field and the plastic shroud has never been and issue. I put a leupold II on mine but it came with a burrris fullfiled which worked fine until the rings failed which damaged the tube so it has been put on lower recoil guns.

I thought about gettin a T3 hunter in 270wsm but I found the wood stoke unimpressive. Just a plain piece of wood.

Some say that the rear of synthetic stocks can be loud when walking through brush. Buy a cheap shell holder sleeve and put it on the rear stock. Problem solved. No more noise when it brushes up against twigs or branches.

I have had two Tikka T3 wood stocks crack one laminate in .300wsm and one deluxe in .338 win, both behind the safety. I personally would not recommend one in wood only synthetic. It is not about abusing your rifle that the plastic parts are an issue, its the spending 900 bucks and getting sub par materials in a rifle. I have owned many rifles in Tikka when I started hunting but not one now. The more rifles I owned and shot over the years the more Tikkas "quality" started to show. Get over what you hear about remingtons and Savages being junk, its just not true. Look at a 700CDL Deluxe or a Savage 114 american classic stainless and try and find the plastic. I own both these and CZ 550s, Browning a-bolts, Ruger mkIIs. For the same money or less these do a better job in my opinion. Sako on the other hand did everything right......for a price.

I have 4 T3's, and they more I use them, the more I have to agree with some of the above statements - I see and feel their shortcomings. I won't buy anymore. A Stainless will run around $900 with taxes in, there are some really good guns out there for that price. I have a 300wsm thats a shooter I will sell you if youre interested! Wicked deal too!

People do not like the plastic bolt shroud and trigger assembly. For a left hand shooter they are very leftie friendly. However they do they most important thing a gun is suppose to do. Shoot very very accurately. For that I really like my tikka t3 lite in 6.5x55.

at least a few "still" positive votes for the Tikka T3.. i was starting to beleave this thread should have stayed dead on the original positive notes.

anyway.. there is always people that drive lambo or other expensive car.. i just want to get from A to B while trying to look as good as i can and stay away from the cheap stuff.. its possible to hunt or be accurate with something below 1000$.. thats what my wallet told me!

You can find a blue version for under 700. For that price they are damn good deal. Not an ideal big calibre gun because they are lite but for 270 and under they are damn nice. My 6.5x55 is really fun to shoot. If I found another for that price I may buy it again. But the tikka hunter in the 6.5x55 in a left would be a nice gun for the safe.

Just a thought, if you did not want real world negative experience with a tikka rifle then you shouldn't ask for any negatives from real world owners. Note first post number 2.

I want negative feedback also.. But when your head is finally straight and u tell yourself.. Ok im buying that one.. And people suddently told you nah, buy something else.. It create doubts. I usually overthink things before buying them
