Swiss Arms addicts sound off

As they say, its only expensive if you have a readily available supply of similar models at half price.

Export is likely going to be an issue under US laws.

Might have better luck from Europe.

Troy industries actually makes one.

Yeah, They are pretty nice too.

Only problem with them is that they are designed for a flat top. You'd have to de-milll a forward section of the rail to accommodate the fixed SAN front sight as it has an extension that covers the top of the gas block. Or (if you are really lucky) uninstall the fixed sight and achieve a fit with minimum machining.

Either way, you DO need to de-mill the receiver segment to accommodate the rear sight.

As I don't own the Troy rail, I've not tried. But I talked with a gunsmith at Corlane Sports in Dawson Creek. He was fairly sure that drilling and tapping the upper for screws would be an hour to look at and estimate a proper job, and not an overly difficult to accomplish the final mods.

The real upside is that you would have a level, full length rail from rear sight drum to front sight post. ###y.

I also would not overlook Samson.

If it's not $600 - $1000 sure make'em up and sell here ... :D I'd love a rail that you can mount a REAL bi-pod on ... unlike the piece of crap that is on a stock one ... just garbage!

Here's my solution. B&T quad rail, ARMS #32 adapter, and Harris Bipod.

There is a Harris bipod adapter you can get for the full-length model:

Otherwise Parker-Hale makes one for the 550, $400+ price:

There is a factory adjustable(?) one too that is different than the stock oem model that comes with the rifles - I saw TSE had one in stock about a week ago... I think $260ish....

Keep in mind that any use of a bipod off of the handguards or rail is going to change your POI....

Most likely the Versa-Pod.

No, it is an oem or other Swiss-made option. I've seen a few of the Swiss guys here run them on their Sigs.

I've not paid it much attention other than noting it is different (and looks significantly more substantial) than the oem stock one, because I never use mine (I've actually removed it from the handguard).

There are no others to my knowledge. And Versa-Pods are OEM with the 551 SWAT and some other models.
