Swiss Arms Sniper (some pics and first impressions)

Market value

How does one party dictate market value of any item?

Market value is simply what 2 parties are willing to consummate an agreement of sale. Supply is very limited thus the high price given there is a demand for these.

You're absolutely right, I can't. Neither can you. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. I'm not hear to tell the man how to spend his money. He can do that fine all on his own.

He obviously sees the value in it or he wouldn't have bought it. He say's it's market value. I'm quite positive that at that price level, overall demand and supply is equally low. So, in essence, he's dictating the market value himself.

How many of these would be sold in a given year in Canada? One, perhaps two? It's a buyer's market in my opinion. Even if there wasn't one commercially available here in Canada, he could locate one by other means.

Easily. An item is worthless if no one is willing to buy it. Supply might be limited in Canada but is virtually unlimited if one is willing to look elsewhere as I have said. Importing one from the US or Europe is not difficult and you certainly wouldn't have to pay that high of a price.

Keep things in perspective. Demand in this country is extremely limited for $10,000 semi-auto rifles. All you have to do is look at the membership of this website and the enormous interest in dirt cheap Norinco products, "precision?" rifle builds off the $300 Stevens 200, and $1,000 AR's.

I'm sure there wouldn't be an issue with supply if I put the word out I was willing to pay $10,000 for this Sig sniper. You can be sure there'd be a seller contacting me in regards to a sale.

I spent that much on a TV. Didn't get bent over either.......

Nice things cost money, period.

Hard to find things cost even more money.

Super exclusive items cost even more again...

Some people like to be in the latter club (myself included).

When people come to my house and ask about my TV they tell me I'm crazy, that's fine, go back and watch your samsung/panasonic/sony, etc. I will stick with mine.

When people see unclewalther's sniper, I would imagine something along the same lines happens.

It's only money......may as well have what you want in this short life time and enjoy it.

Good on you, that rifle is something to be proud of!

That's f**kin' ridiculous. If you're willing to pay that much money you deserve to get bent over.

No worse then buying a bike, boat, sports car or any other guy toy ;)

If you have the money to spend and you want a cool toy buy it!

Thats a beautiful investment, I guarantee its worth the same in a few years. RRSP's are not looking to hot, and when the zombies invade, what good is a hockey card collection going to be? Maybe a couple Kj of heat energy to keep yourself warm...that's what. This thing can put meat on your table, defend your country and has a lifespan that many generations can enjoy.
Hell, Its only a couple grand more than a boob job for your wife and she can just get up and walk out on you any time she wants.

2bad, your posts in no way contribute anything positive to this thread. If you can't appreciate fine rifles that others own and enjoy and share with their friends then move on. 8-10k is relatively inexpensive for this rifle, as it's in Canada. Move it to another jurisdiction and he price doubles.

There is no need to berate a fellow gun enthusiast who's taste do not match yours and who's budget is different than yours Your comments are all in bad taste, uncalled for and you really ought to move on.

Some people think that Ferraris are a rip off....those that can afford them and drive them don't think so.....Wish I could afford one. If I could I don't know if I would buy one, or put the money into other things like guns......

Insane price for a Swiss Arms Sniper? or Ferrari....only if you can't afford it....

I'm not the only one to comment on the price. The most vocal, for sure. I didn't berate Uncle, just gave him my opinion that I think he got f**ked over. In any event, I've said all I need to say about that.

Perhaps, you missed my last comment when I said I hope Unlce enjoys his rifle? I cetainly hope he does.

SIG/SAN stopped making the heat shields years ago.

I have a few rifles that are individually worth more than my car. I like guns more than I like cars.
