T2 Garand - Part 1

Again, the 5 bona-fide Italian Tipo 2 barrels that I've installed were all of excellent quality with no issues about proper fit, headspace or accuracy. It would be highly unusual for a Beretta or Breda receiver to be off spec. I've owned a few dozen of them, and have used them as the basis for many builds. They were built to a very high quality line.

Having similar experiences with Tipo modified barrels and everyone headspaced fine with one of the bolts I had on hand my bet is still on the fact that the barrels were faulty from the get go. A cascade of wrong 'fixes' has got this whole fiasco to where it is now. Thank the powers that be Marstar is not a used car dealer.

These rifles would have been better off imported as parts without the #### barrels and bubba work....Garand parts are always welcome here and not hard to sell.
Anyone else getting dicked around over return shipping?

Just got my RMA email. They will not be reimbursing shipping costs.

Dispute the charges with your credit card provider. You will get your money and the "iron glad man" will get a bad rating, win win.

It looks like they pulled them off the shelves now, but only after getting a very bad reputation which will stick for quite a while.

So now J1 is still sticking it to everyone. When the hell is the ban hammer going to hit him in the &$$.

At this point yeah, purely doing this out of spite since he's stated in this thread and many others "you won't be out shipping" with the ironclad guarantee.
That's got to be worth at least a suspension of their banner/forum for a month or 2.
Still can't type ### (ArePeeEss) on here and they did way less damage then this fiasco lol

Sounds to me you could make a business out of it judging by how fast Marstars Rifle sold out initially.

I've asked via email what circumstances are present that mar-star will not cover shipping. Will post an answer if/when I get one.

"When the above conditions have been met, the value of the product(s) being returned to Marstar will be reimbursed to the
client as a refund, credit or exchange. Shipping costs may or may not be reimbursed, depending on circumstances."

And guys don't forget to leave "iron glad man" the appropriate feedback, that's the least you can do.

I have sent a similar email asking why. I will also be posting their response.

Call and speak to John directly and tell him exactly what you think of the way they are handling this massive ####up.
He's literally pitching a fit like a baby...not honoring his own warranty because he ####ed up and got outed on here.

I got the same message. I called to Marstar stating I had an unsafe rifle and I shouldn't be on the hook for shipping. I was told that these rifles were "proofed" for sale. If I could prove mine was unsafe, then I would be sent my shipping money. I took a video of the barrel being undone by hand, where the bolt was ground and that I could fit a .532 gauge in the gas cylinder. I took another video with me putting the rifle back in the case and took pictures of how I packed the case in a box. I put the video on a memory stick and sent it to them. I also kept copies for myself, and my lawyer has a copy.
The ball is in their court, so let's see if they agree a lose barrel is a safety issue. I was told that everybody will say it is a defective gun, but their people need to verify that before they will refund the shipping. My impression is that these rifles were "proofed", so they will not be deemed unsafe by their employees.
I sent mine back at normal post with signature, as well i insured it for the value of the rifle. Not taking anymore chances.

I called Marstar very early on in this fiasco. I spoke with John directly. I have posted what he told me in that conversation. In previous threads he has often been critical of people posting online and said they should just pick up the phone and call. I did. I gave him the chance to explain the situation. I do not know how much more understanding I could have been as a customer. I have given the benefit of the doubt well beyond what can reasonably be expected. I now must assume the worst in light of all that has transpired. Whatever credibility and reputation Marstar had with me is long gone.

Regardless if these are safe or not they are NOT what was advertised and what we purchased in good faith.

If they want proof, I'm sure any reputable gunsmith would write you a letter stating that a welded and ground bolt is unsafe and unfit for shooting.
What more do they want, your eyball mailed to them in a plastic bag when it does let go??? ####ing disgrace to the firearm community.
Seriously, call CSSA/NFA and let them know what's happening here, they are the legal experts and might have some good advice for dealing with Marstar on this issue. They take firearms injuries very seriously even if Jackass1 doesn't.

Greentips is a standup guy, I hope he's paying attention to this thread. He built this community out of the ashes of Assweb and it's massive compared to when I joined back when there was less then 200 members. CGN is still his baby, and I don't think vendors ####ing over members is what he had in mind when he created this board.

I wonder what the rest of the sponsors who work hard to keep their customers happy and coming back are thinking. I'm pretty sure they are waiting to see what the outcome of this is going to be.

Mine should be back at Marstar tomorrow. It will be interesting what they do for my refund! I said it was unsafe because of the bolt and that it wasn't a real Italian T2 Garand as advertised, so those are both totally legit complaints!!!

I'll let everyone know what happens.

Ian
