T2 Garand - Part 1

That poor bastard in the Marstar video holding these Garnades so close to his face while he proclaims them the finest he's seen in a while. Hopefully he has full dental coverage.

The sad thing is that the Garand is an extremely strong action if properly assembled with a properly fitted barrel and correctly headspaced bolt. A 50,000 PSI pressure bloom a couple of inches in front of your face is nothing to fool with.

So I just got off the phone with johnone. I post the following with his permission: these were built for the dutch on danish marked receivers around the time frame of when the dutch were evaluating different .308 platforms ie ar10 etc, to decide what to go with. These rifles were never shipped and went into storage. They went to Germany for a complete teardown, inspection and proofing.

I don't believe Marstar would lie and cheat people by passing off faked rifles. I do agree that their dissemination of information could be better but I do understand johnone when he speaks about the frustrations of dealing with certain types of people. If you have ever worked retail or sales you will know as I do what he means. There are a lot of good knowledgable people on this forum but it can be hard to tell them apart from some of the other "experts".

I appreciate all those who have added their knowledge to this thread and hope this post helps add to the information on these rifles.

Certain types of people expect to receive what they paid for...certain types of people are funny like that.

I just re-watched the video. In a few shots, you can see the left bolt lug face and it does not look to be ground, it's parkerized color, not bright. I wonder if the rifle they shot was an earlier pre-production sample (or similar) unaffected by the problems users are now reporting?

I would personally not be shooting strings out of an M1 with welded lugs. If Marstar employees are comfortable with doing so, that is another matter.

Good day Mr Audet;
Since you have chosen an open forum to discuss this the members here deserve the full story.
yes you sent us pictures, it might help if you show them here so all can judge.... These are military rifles, the slight variance of the wood tone would normally
be quite acceptable, we came as close as we could.
As was explained to you after you e mailed us (three different boxes) and called four different people here (6 calls) in all cases you were told we will of course honor our warranty policy, you are not happy ?
return it for a refund. What more can we do ?
John

I can make a suggestion.

A guestbook post? I wouldn't take that seriously. I doubt Tony actually posts his personal business for everyone to see. I think this whole thread has gotten ridiculous. Do your homework and make smart purchases.

Have you bothered to read the Marstar warranty, "not happy" return for a full refund ??
I hate to rain on your parade but the sales derived from CGN members would barely pay the wages for a couple of employees....
Not to say we do not appreciate the support of CGN members, but there is a whole othe world outside this forum
John

Really?

Honestly I would keep mine but because of that bolt, I left no choice but to return them back. As much as I like that Garand but blowing my face is not really my style of passing away this planet.

What piss me off the most is I spent half of the day to clean up one of them, I barely got day off so half of the day is something.

For document purpose, The photos below are both of my bolts from my Garands.

Same boat as you, I would keep mine but the bolt modifications scare me.

I think expecting to get what you paid for is a fair assumption. I made my comments before receiving the product I paid for and reserved judgement and definitively commenting until I had them in hand and could make a factual statement, unlike some on here who talked sh@t right off the bat and fed the speculation.

No one knew how bad these rifles actually were until they made it into peoples hands. I don't think anyone could have predicted how bad this situation has turned out to be.

If these rifles had made it into peoples hands and turned out to be a legit product all the naysayers would have quietly faded away. If you want to be smug now and crow about being right feel free.

^ Dyspnea... holy... Wow that's ridiculous. Too bad about the waste of time, but at least you didn't blow your own jaw off or some thing if you shot it.

How are people who are not on CGN going to know? Marstar needs to recall these rifles, ASAP.

Think about that. It's kinda freaking me out a bit, I did shot like 8 en bloc of their surplus 308 win from Marstar. The second photo is the bolt from the Garand that I shot.

It might have different outcome if I shot the Garand with bolt from the first photo.

That almost looks like he ran out of welding rods and said #### it, solder is "close enough".....lol.
That would last about 1 enbloc before it was deformed and headspace out, or worse lugs shearing off....

Garands are tough, but not indestructible.

Your lucky - had it been that first one, I suspect it would have gone boom. You can see gaps in the weld... So not only is it weak to begin with, but that adds to the danger.

I stand by my earlier remarks. Looks like gas-less MIG to me. The bulk of the weld was then ground away.

I'm not "crow-ing"KE, my comment wasn't pointed at you per se, rather at Johnone. You were speaking for him after having spoken to him. What I am pointing out is that apparently in your discussion, John continued with his absolutely arrogant position that he is reasonable and everyone else is either uniformed (read stupid) or unreasonable (again...read indirectly stupid).
Expecting not to be lied to, is not unreasonable (John). Expecting to receive what you have been sold on is not being uninformed (John). These T2's are not legit, and is the third independent example that I'm aware of that Marstar has been untruthful with its client base.
I am no longer part of your client base John.:jerkit:
