I have never seen a sks red like this. It's actually really cool. I'm a purist(cheapskate), I still have mine in original condition. But I really like this look. Is it heat resistant paint?

Alright y'all, need advice, I am in search of scope rings for my SKS, I have some high rings but the scope touches and and the rings are sloppy on the rail, the scope is a 3-9x40 8 point scope, I was thinking a red dot but thought this is good too

Finally Completed! 1954 Tula, qwikrail, HiCal pistol mag adapter, barrel shortened, trigger job, new stock, red dot, and a sweet paintjob by Ironsight Kustoms.

Before the SJW's jump down my throat, the mag inserted is empty. It is only inserted for looks.

Still no sticky love for the SKS.

I've been thinking over and planning the mods to my SKS. I've spent a lot of time on product knowledge and knowing what it is I'm buying for my SKS or what I'm doing or want the firearm to achieve. First I modified the bolt and changed to Tapco mags. Got 4 of them. Then I researched some rails. Was really set on getting the BC Tactical mount as I decided I was only going to go with a red dot but when I learned their mount was $80 I said @#$% it and bought a Kodiak Defense mount on sale for the same price. Not if I change my mind and want to use a scope I can. For the red dot I was thinking of something cheap but when I started researching red dots, the cheap ones are not waterproof. The was the deal breaker for me. The optic needs to be tough. If I'm loosing my iron sights, then I need a reliable optic to take its place. So I was trying to decide between the Burris Fastfire II, Fastfire III, and the Vortex Venom. The Fastfire II fell out right away since you need to remove the sight to change the battery although it is shockproof and waterproof. I chose the Venom because it has a longer battery life, 10 different brightness settings, 100 moa of adjustment for windage and 130 moa adjustment for elevation which is a lot more than the Fastfire III. Also has the ability to switch to auto brightness. Finally, lifetime warranty. I got 2 extra batteries for it however the batter life on lowest power is 3.5 years and mid brightness is 1.5 - 2 years. I added a magpul sling clip for ease of taking the sling off and for keeping the sling out of my face when shooting.

My next two ideas I have in mind is to install a magpul rail on the bottom of the handguard and install a magpul vertical grip. However I want to keep the bayonet so I have an extra spike bayonet that I plan to shorten it.
