contemplating if I should cut the barrel on this. Would need to remove the front site post and bayo lug first to keep it legal length.
the pins holding them in place are really tight. any tips?

Getting the pins out with a punch is the easy part. Removing the front site block is the tough part. Look up YouTube videos for homemade sks sight block pullers. It's not difficult to fabricate a puller if you have access to a welder and tap and die set.

Wow, that thing is pure eye candy. I think I saw a thread on how you fabled up the mount for the cz folder. Lotsa work went into that eh? I would do mine this way but I don't have a shop or machine tools....

Wasn't me. I just did that this weekend. But we probably saw the same post. I got my inspiration from a post I saw here a few months ago. It didn't take very long to do. just drilled and carved out pockets for a nut and bolt and some copper tubing to make it a bit stronger.

Any pics of your work? Maybe I'll buy a cheap wooden stock and start brainstorming.

didn't take any pictures of the process, kinda just got drunk and started cutting away in the garage (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧
it was simple tho, just cut the stock, traced the outline of the cz stock, drilled a hole to fit the copper tube and bolt, carved away a pocket for the nut. same went for the grip but without the copper tube, just a washer.

I'm something of a purist when it comes to SKSs, but this one was already mismatched and had already been butchered when I got it, so I just took it a bit further. I'm actually pretty happy with the way this gun turned out.

If u had to use one in a 3 gun match where classes didnt matter, which one would u bring? The stock SKS, or this modded one ?

Oh, for any competition, the modded one for sure. Runs perfectly on 10-round detachable mags, which is a huge advantage over stock given our idiotic laws. But frankly there's no way I'd use an SKS for competition... literally any other rifle I own would be better for competition. As they come from the factory, they're a great bush/truck gun. All the crap I bolted on still doesn't REALLY make it any better. Looks cool though!
