Actually ANY ammo can somehow be found around here... But no one will ever have the specific kind I want at the time I want it and for the price I would pay for it...

How about an FR-8?

It's short and nice and light so carrying it around would be a breeze. It's also chambered in 7.62x51 so the power is there.

As a person employed in the law enforcement field I only have this to say: I hope and pray that you never, ever get a job with any agency in this country until you grow up and pull your head out of the dark place that it is obviously lodged. Not heavy at all. Certainly lighter than the M305 I would assume.

I'm sure the weight is somewhere on the internet.
