Talk me out of a Benelli M4

You're going to do the Kessel Run?

Truth be told she's pretty cool about it, what helped most is that I talked her into getting her RPAL at the same time as me and then I got a Ruger 10/22 and a Walther PPQ M2 22LR too so she's onboard......

Ghost shell?

Please elaborate

When you load the M4 there is a way you can add a round into the full loadout capacity. It is done by pushing the feed ramp down after loading the tube magazine and add one round onto the feed ramp. You have to manually manipulate the closing of the bold in order to make it work if I recall correctly.

You will not regret getting an M4. I love mine and it performs flawlessly. As a couple of others have indicated, there doesnt appear to be a big need to clean them frequently.

The proper way to ghost load the M4s90 is as follows:

with the bolt closed, load the magazine tube fully.

Pull the bolt back about a 1/2" away from fully back; then drop a shell (brass first) into the lifter and push it down

Then you can put a shell directly into the chamber and let the bolt forwards until full closed.

I find it easier to put the shell into the lifter first (shotgun pointed up and on my upper leg with my right hand holding the bolt in position), but you can do the lifter or chamber first depending on if you like the shotgun pointed up or down.

Received the gun today just before I was about to leave for the range, so I took it with me

Glad I didn't let anyone talk me out of it - its a beauty!

Knocked off clays all day, right from the first round!

Could be in my head but compared to my pump it seems to have waaay less recoil too

To anyone considering one of these, just do it, they're awesome

Not in your head, Benelli has one of the best recoil systems out there added to the fact a semi uses the energy in the recoil to cycle the bolt. Nice job on the clays that's not easy to do with a fixed cylinder bore.

If I had the budget, I would do the M4 in a heartbeat. Having said that the M2 is a very popular model and slightly more affordable. Depends on what you want to use it for. My current wish list in order of priority is : 1) M4 2)Versamax Tactical (tactical ordinance worked over) 3)M2 4) Stoeger M3K or M3500. Budget constraints made me choose the M3K. Great shotgun so far, after 300 rounds through her. Fires both slug and #7 1/2 shot reliably. Comes with chokes and is kitted out with the 3 gun mods (larger safety, larger bolt release button, larger bolt knob) for around $800.

I actually find the M4 to recoil a bit more than some of the other gas semis, however at the same time something about the way it recoils is less distracting somehow, crisper and smoother maybe?

Don't buy it STAY AWAY it will cost you your entire life savings you'll end up on the street because of your need to buy ammo to feed this pig, this shotty is not a shotty at all its too smooth, too refined to be a shotty

Its my favourite gun. The M4 is amazing for clays - I took my pump out last time too and couldn't hit nearly as often

It's $2K, A pump is more reliable and you can feed it anything. Plus unlimited capacity for us Canadians.

Always wanted a M4... But a pump does the job

I have another high mag capacity pump and its waaay more fussy about what gets put in it to the point that I can't cycle a full mag without some sort of hassle - the Benelli is flawless in that respect

Assuming full power ammo, a good semi is likely to be more reliable under stress, especially if you have to shoot from an awkward position. I've seen top shotgun trainers short stroke their pumps on their own training videos...

The M4 is one of those shotty's that always puts a smile on my face when I run it.

Drink the juice. Its worth it.
