Tandemkross compensator, wont thread all the way on?

Hey guys! I'm in the middle of a new build and I'm stumped. Ordered a new TK compensator to go on my dlask barrel but it only threads about half way on and then brings up solid.. long before it can bring up in the crush washer/o-ring? Anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions? I have a feeling I need a different compensator.

1) How deep are the TK threads ? 2) Did you contact TK yet ? Maybe threads not deep enuf from TK.

I have not as I order the comp from a third party here in Canada. All the other TK stuff I have has been spot on 1for 1 swap.. but the last piece of the puzzle doesn't fit and I'm twisted lol.

There is! As well as a crush washer.. still doesn't make up the difference.

I bought a 1/2×28 tap to make some more threads...I have had to do this on more than one linear compensator.

Not a terrible idea, however, one shouldn't have to do that!

Tandemkross and I think the other was a Tactical Solutions...their barrels have a shorter threaded portion than the Dlask

Makes perfect sense.. from what I can tell the dlask barrel is exactly half an inch or slightly better.

Make it a bottoming tap... not a starter or plug tap. If tapping does not fix it, the barrel needs threading.

Upon further inspection.. there's nothing there for me to tap! Due to the design of the compensator, it's been threaded as much as it can be. Suuuuuuuper sad and disappointed

If the tap isn't too expensive, it may still be worth running it into the compensator. The threads were most likely single point cut on a lathe or CNC machine, and may not have been cut deep enough to fit this barrel. The tap will clean up and cut the thread depth deeper if that is the case. If the compensator threads were actually cut to the proper spec, then perhaps the barrel threads need to be cut deeper. If you also get a die, between running the tap into the compensator and running the die over the barrel, you're guaranteed the parts will mate.
