Tavor FAQ (updated 08 December, 2008)

My Tavor just arrived from CanAm.

Looks great thanks to the guys at CanAm

Has anyone done any upgrades or paint jobs to there own I wouldn't mind seeing some pics

My Tavor arrived. I mounted a Bushnell Elite 6500 1.25-8x32 scope with ARMS 35QD mount & ARMS 35M rings.

It will be a nice hunting rig!

Cheers
Jay
P.S. Initial impressions wrt to the trigger is that this one is not as good as my old one... We will see what happens after some range time... Hoping the trigger smooths out!

Great looking setup Jay:) I have an ADM mount on mine and I added a bottom foregrip rail to try some grips, bipods, and lights. I think I might just take it off because the original grip seems to be the best and a bipod is awkward and front heavy for off hand shooting.

I got mine lightly used and even then I think the trigger has gotten better with more live and dry fire, as well as some lube on the mechanism and linkage.

I do have a question for other Tavor owners/experts out there, sorry if it has been covered before. Do you let the bolt slam shut on an empty chamber? I know its a modern rifle that can take some punishment but it's also expensive and that seems abusive. I try to baby mine, especially when I am unsure about something. Easing it forward is awkward and if you don't let it slam shut it often sticks open a little, kind of annnoying for dry fire practice. Sometimes I ride the bolt handle halfway and then let it go. I even tried catching it in the palm of my hand once. Don't do that.

Oh and does anyone know of a good/great sling for the Tavor? I don't mind the one it comes with but there might be something better than a seatbelt and some paracord.

Tavor cleaning rod bore guide

Has anyone made a cleaning rod "bore guide " for this rifle??Have not found a commercial one available yet.

As with any decent rifle it would be beneficial to be able to
clean this barrel with a 1 piece rod "guided" to the bore through
the rear action. Looks like it should not be a difficult build and would be
a welcomed piece of kit. Similar to the plastic AR bore guides....

With what seems to be a greater number of these rifles in consumers hands,
this maybe just a decent small manufacturing project..
Thanks
Gord

Can AM no longer stocks Tavor?

Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone could offer any help on finding a Tavor supplier in Canada. Canada Ammo no longer sells the Tavor and I've been calling every supplier in Canada that I know of, with no result. Only Wolverine Supplies was able to even offer me a pre-order but said their last order took a year and a half and they were not hopeful that another shipment would arrive even in that time span. I would really appreciate any advice anyone could give me, thank you!

I think the heavy trigger pull is attributed to the safety spring that makes it very stiff. You can see the URL link below on how to remove the spring, but I do not recommend removing it, due to safety reasons. First, there is no trigger guard and secondly, this spring acts like a stopper to prevent accidental drops that triggers hammer to fire itself. If one wants to improve the trigger, I think it needs a softer aftermarket spring than the existing stiffer OEM spring on Tavor. Credit goes to Lt. Werner for his tutorial efforts below.
