I havent read through this whole thing yet but THANK YOU! I have had a ton of questions but didnt want to make all these posts and bother everyone with what i though was silly questions.

I hope one day i can return this favor somehow to my fellow CGNers.

Got my new (used) Tavor the other day. So awesome. The only downside is that it seems very difficult to clean compared to my ARs and I am pretty anal retentive about carbon build up.

There is a spot around the recoil spring housing that is VERY difficult to get into, and I can't seem to get the pin out that holds it in place.

As a side, the firing pin was packed with cosmo. Don't know how the previous owner wasn't getting slam fires.

Ah well.

In here:

I should also add that my firing pin has a spring on it, so it is not floating. Is this a new thing or something added by the previous owner?

No spring is standard now to prevent slam fires.

I'm still waiting for someone to bring in the bayonet lug. Why? Hell why not lol.

Eventually will add the MARS with the auto disconnect rodinside.

I haven't read this whole thread, but has anyone painted theirs OD green or Khaki>?? how would someone go about painting it since its all polymer?? powder coat? I think that both of thos colors accented with black parts would look so sick.

Question for current users:

Have any right-handed shooters switched the charging handle to the right side of the rifle, so as to be operated similar to how people often charge a 858/AK/Scar with the support hand reaching under the rifle?

I ask because I was thinking of a scout light on the Tavor side rail. But I don't like tape/remote switches, and the clicky tail-cap would be hard or impossible to actuate with it mounted on the right side of the rifle.

I thought maybe on the left side, mounted at the 10 o'clock position, I could use the tail-cap similar to how I hold on an AR.

I do have a question for other Tavor owners/experts out there, sorry if it has been covered before. Do you let the bolt slam shut on an empty chamber? I know its a modern rifle that can take some punishment but it's also expensive and that seems abusive. I try to baby mine, especially when I am unsure about something. Easing it forward is awkward and if you don't let it slam shut it often sticks open a little, kind of annnoying for dry fire practice. Sometimes I ride the bolt handle halfway and then let it go. I even tried catching it in the palm of my hand once. Don't do that.

If its empty just ease it all the way closed. I noticed this "sticking open a little" too. Just click the cocking handle forward into position and it will be all the way closed. Can it handle it? Probably but im sure closing the bolt with no resistance from feeding a round isnt good for it. My suggestion is dont do it. I bought some .223 snap caps so i could cycle some rounds in my house for practice.

is there no one in canada/the world that has connected a flashlight or a laser pointer to the factory pressure switch in the forgrip? also does anyone have any other ideas on connecting the sling?

yes.
the Mesa tactical quick release sling mount for remington 870 will work on the Tavor.
DS Tactical carries them in New West ( push button swing swivel mount for 870)

Just bought a Tavor and so far not to impressed. Loaded mag will not lock in place unless bolt is locked back. Is this common or am I doing something wrong? Also it doesn't like the 10 round pistol mags at all. tries to pull 2 rounds off at the same time and jams up the bolt. Had one round actually get stuck on top of the bolt.

Nothing wrong with your gun, those are all magazine issues.
