Tavor FAQ (updated 08 December, 2008)

It's a bullpup. The major downside of bullpups is the s**tty trigger. You can remove that one little spring but it will never be as good as a regular rifle. It's one of the trade offs for compactness.

Until electronic triggers become mainstream. I wonder how long....

Even that being said, I find the trigger on my Tavor is heavy but pretty good for a combat rifle. It still seems crisp. I have kept both springs on, since I find heavy easier to deal with than spongy.

When someone has a chance, if new owners of the latest batch of Tavor's that came in (to Can Am, and also SFRC) wouldn't mind, I'd be interested to see pictures of what the firearm looks like with the new rail.

There is only the same, small res pic on both retailers websites.

The new rail looks like it goes over the front flip up iron sight. Does it allow for it to be used, or is a write-off with that rail attached?

BMD, the rail allows the use of the flip up sights. My new Tavor is on its way, I will post pics when it gets here.

Cheers
Jay

The sights are integrated into the rail itself. You can still use them normally and when they are down they blend in very nice with the rail.

1) So far they haven't been able to get it together to make them in the States
2) Do you think the US will allow them to be exported even if they do end up eventually making a Tavor.

american made tavors? news to me. provide a link please. i know they tried years back but that project is dead. is somebody else trying this again?

Charles Daly and thier subsiduary CD defence will be taking another crack at the Tavor project in the U.S. after a 2 year layoff...

they were pretty open about it at SHOT, but it has been announced on ar15.com

Even if the US did make Tavor it would be cheaper and more available the same way the SIG 556 is compared to our Swiss Arms PE90. Ie they won't export them and it has no effect on our Swiss rifles.
