Tavor FAQ (updated 08 December, 2008)

This is the perfect thread for a "green" Tavor owner. Thank you for putting it together!!!!!

I do not have pics of mine yet, but I threw an Elcan C79 and a Hera Arms muzzle device on it. The Elcan makes the gun weigh a lot more, but overall the rifle feels perfectly balanced. I will give a range report this weekend! Also, I did have a Spatha Tactical thread on muzzle device before on the rifle, but the amount of gases that it threw back in my face was unbearable. I hope the Hera is less intense.

Regina! We should compare Tavors sometime. :)

Shot a Tavor for the first time at the range the other day, another member let me try his out.

Obviously, I need one. His was FDE, and I really like that look so I'll get one of those.

Now to look at scopes. I'd want an optical one, maybe a 1-4 but I wonder if a compact 2.5-8 wouldn't be out of place, as I would be using it at range nad in the field.

Anyway, I need one.

Agreed fully. This rifle is so very "hot topic" right now and the fact you can get it NR is amazing. I really hope they stay NR and out of the political spectrum and the RCMP's eyes.. but I guess we'll see.

It is also the time to get them right now as any refreshed stock is only going to go up in price with the dollar issues right now.

Sad, considering you see them going for 1500 in the states.

Is there any shops out there that will strip, cerakote, then reassemble a Tavor? (In Canada)

Or should I be stripping it, then finding a shop to send it to, then reassembling it myself? I'm totally new to doing so, but it doesn't really bother me to do it. Just easier to send it in.

Just a quick question I was taking down my tavor the other day and doing a detail clean and I noticed a decent amount of what looked like brass dust/fouling on the firing pin. Basically the firing pin look gold on the end. It wiped right off, and no noticeable damage was found. More of a curiosity thing if anyone else has seen this. Thanks.

Mine arrived along with a Vortex Strikeforce 1-6. Just waiting for rings.

I usually clean new guns but I was going to the range anyway, had no idea how to disassemble it so I tried it out anyway. :)

I couldn't see much with the iron sights so took them off and used the flip ups which were a bit better, but this rifle really calls for optics of some sort. I've got a wide face though. Skinny guys probably have less issues.

I'm going to load up some 62gr TTSX bullets for wolves and deer at some point. :)

Make sure to post pics in the Hunting and Sporting rifles forum when you get one. And see if you can shoot a huge bull moose with 7.62x39 this year while you're at it. You'll give those guys attacks of the vapors.

Bump. Anyone?

Luis1 I have seen this on an AR15 firing pin. I believe is was just some residual plating from primers. It was an old Colt that I had and ran fine for 20k rds before any parts started failing.

Nope still in Gagetown, my wife sent me some teaser pics. I sent it back 4 weeks ago before I left for course. So that was a quick turnaround time. I'm back next week and can't wait to hit the range and post pics of the cool guns I got to handle in the CFSME museum.

I havent been back to montreal since 2010, after 32 years I was done with snow, no more, ever, please.

i just bought an nf scope and an ultralight nf mount for my AR, i just hope ill be able to switch it nice and easy with my acr. So my budget is a bit slim these days with the mba costs, but id like to get a nicer trigger for the israeli beast too.

Did you get that nf scope for your acr? or was it a us optics?
