Tavor FAQ (updated 08 December, 2008)

I guess if it would be possible the Geissele wouldn't be 500$

Removing the rear spring doesn't change much

Yes, I tried changing the rear spring to a really weak one (out of a ball-point pen, embarrassingly). It lightened the pull a bit but wasn't powerful enough to reset the trigger. There's another spring in the middle of the auto mechanism that seems to contribute more to the pull weight. I don't know where you'd find a lighter replacement for it.

The sear engagement is rather deep - about 1/8". Shortening this could be done fairly easily by taking some metal off the front of the sear hooks. Take too much off and the trigger pack is ruined of course. Maybe not too much of an issue if the alternative to modding it is buying an aftermarket trigger pack anyway.

Here's mine with a pretty standard "upgrade" list. Still like seeing what people think. I wish they made a slimmer / reduced handguard. I may upgrade to a timney pack.

For the love of God don't go with Timney! Also try a Geissele Lightning Bow before you get spendy on hammer packs!

Your talking about just getting the physical trigger without upgrading to an aftermarket pack? 100+$ seemed like a little much for is essentially a small curved peice of steel, is it really that good of an improvement? Don't get me wrong I like the look of it, but all I thought it would be offering is looks.

Also between the geissele and the timney packs I've been lead to believe that the geissele was more of a two stage feel where as the timney more a single stage. My reason for leaning more towards the timney is that I have tried two stage geissele ar triggers and I very much prefer the single stage 3lb timney I have in my mk18. In your opinion is the geissele a better pack and worth the extra money?

The install of the geissele lightning bow, made a huge difference in my trigger pull. It essentially feels like a milspec AR trigger now, albeit a tiny bit heavier break. The break itself is far more consistent as well as has very little, to no over travel and creep is non existant. The trigger itself allows for tweaking of the first stage allowing for almost all slack, if you want, to be eliminated by adjusting the set screw on the back of the lightning bow. I will advise though, for those who are installing, to adjust the bow with the trigger pack installed. You can take slack out too much, and won't be able to engage the safety, so you need to test and retest in order to find that middle ground. On mine there is maybe 2 mm of slack to take up before I can't engage the safety.

Nope, The Lightning Bow is the best $200 you can spend on your Tavor... Takes the mush right out of the trigger. It is 80% of the Super Sabra at 20% of the price!!

I read the Lightning bow to be something like 65% of the benefit of a Super Sabra at 25% of the cost.

I have a bow and don't feel a "need" for the SS.
Absolutely the BEST $150 bucks you'll spend on the Tavor.

I was an early adopter, and sold TVPP and others on it by saying that "with out the lightning bow, you are only experiencing about 50% of the total possible enjoyment out of your hammer/sear pack."

With that in mind, it makes no sense to buy an aftermarket hammer/sear pack at a $400+ cost and not upgrade the bow.

So I did it. It really did take quite a bit of pre travel out, but still a bit of creep after the wall. quite the improvement however. I lucked out with stock tavors on either side of me so I was able to compare stock trigger with mine one after the other.

havent been to poco in a year, hows it like there now? we allowed to shoot steel yet?

I found that after playing with the adjustment screw, that I was able to remove all the pre travel with the bow.

Moe

I removed about as much as I believed I could without affecting the reset
