Tavor FAQ (updated 08 December, 2008)

I lost my extractor pivot pin on the bolt of my Tavor x95. I haven't found a bolts parts kit anywhere for the past few months. I was wondering if I could order a complete left hand bolt and take the pin from there? Does anyone know if that would work? View attachment 521747

I just measured the spare pin I have (it's for the TAR 21, but I believe it's the same size) and it is 0.090" x 0.420" long. Maybe you can cut a #43 drill bit (0.089") to length to get you going until you can source a proper replacement. I got my spare bolt parts from Brownells.

Hey guys, just curious. Are the X95’s able to run with steel case ammo? (Barnaul specifically) Read some conflicting posts but I was wondering what the consensus is.

Yes, they run perfectly fine with whatever you feed it.

Brand new rifles can struggle with steel case and 223 but just need to be broken in a bit.

I'm probably just being anal/OCD but am I the only one with a X95 where the gap between the top rail and the receiver is wider on one side? Makes me worry about the rail not being level and such.

Your rail is bolted directly to the gas tube which is pinned to the barrel. Unless you somehow got a one-in-a-million extremely defective sample, it's fine.

Unless the gap is substantial it's almost certainly normal.

I've noticed this too (and after I fully disassembled the gun which made me think I reinstalled incorrectly). I noticed however that there's 2 clamps on the top of the gas system that makes it so that the rail doesn't sit perfectly flat. You can wobble the rail when it's seated on top and not screwed down.

I looked at a bunch of pictures to see if I could see the gap and from what I could tell it's normal and as long as you don't remove the top rail from the barrel assembly I'd imagine you should be able to keep your zero.

New to the Tavor club. X95 in .223/5.56. Regarding breaking in the barrel, if necessary, any ammo recommendations?? I’ve shot 80 American Eagle 5.56 55gr fmj. And was told by my lgs dude to shoot 100-200 of these before it’s broken in. But I’ve also read about using 62GR… any advice would be appreciated.

Also I installed the ManticoreArms folding charging handle and it’s started to shave the poly on my charging handle port. Is this concerning? Should I go back to Oem?

I'm confused by your barrel break-in comment. I would think a 55 gn projectile that is being compressed/squeezed down an 18.5 inch barrel at 3100 ft per sec and 55,114 psi would sufficiently condition or break-in any barrel?

Shoot it and clean it after shooting.
The concept of barrel break in for a military barel is strictly for those suffering from extremes of OCD.

55gr is fine.
Maybe try a few boxes of various different brands to see how they compare if there is any or much difference. It will show you more of how certain brands of ammo compare in your rifle before you lay out big bucks for a crate.

Had a gen2, sold during the divorce. Now that I have a pre-nup, the collection begins to build once more :)

Got an X95 on the way from Canada's gun store, and a Specter 1-4 DR from Freedom Ventures. Stoked for some range #### :D

I thought these rifles have a chrome lined bore. IMHO no break in is required for a chrome lined bore.
