Tavor FAQ (updated 08 December, 2008)

They had to make it so you need a specialized tool to remove the barrel, yet everything else on the gun requires a different tool.

I love black and own ecerything in black but loce the FDE look the tav gives

If you are buying new, I don't think you have an option as nobody has FDE's in stock, they are sold out everywhere I looked. :)

My Canadian tavor has the usual trigger but the bolt that you cant remove the recoil spring?
I know recoil springs are a wear item. At what round count would you have to replace the spring and is that even possible with this style of bolt.

2 questions if anyone csn help

1. Do any of your tavors have the white numbering on the top picatene rail?

2. A friend of mine has a tav and we werre trying to find the "sight wrench" for the integrated backup sights .the manual speaks of a site wrench and illustrates it being used to adjust the skinny flip up sights Integrated in rail

That sight wrench is in the iwi cleaning kit

If the rifle has been exposed to elements, rain, snow or mud, then you need to completely clean and oil every nook and cranny or metal parts are going to rust. In order to do that, you pretty much need to completely disassemble the entire gun, so it's not necessarily about how many rounds, it's about where you used it and what it was exposed to, so being able to easily disassemble and reach everything is important. Good luck doing that with a Tavor.

In my opinion at least.
I cannot speak for others. During that 15000 rds, I have shot in the rain during matches, got snow and rain on while taking courses. I do the field strip cleaning and blow the nook and cranny with canned air. While I detail stripped the rifle, I did not see any rust.

I've had a Spectre DR on mine for the past 3 years...worth every penny (Coretac Solutions). Original batteries in it too now that I think about, time to order some backups.
Newest addition is the Barrel Shroud which is on order from Wolverine...can't wait.
I love my Tavor.

Anyone notice the difference in the trigger pack? I was going to remove the spring on mine today only to find out that my trigger doesn't have that spring and that mine has a different spring, pin, and bar.

Is the barrel release supposed to be insanely tight? I tried to rotate into open position with a homemade barrel removal/screwdriver "tool" :)..... and failed miserably.

Don't forget you need to remove the charging handle and rod before you turn the release. If you don't you'll end up bending and grinding into the charging handle rod.
