Tell me about Anschutz rifles

Steve is somewhat correct. The 2000 series like the 2013 with the square receiver, the barrel is clamped in place. The 54.30 has a 2 piece chamber and the barrel is threaded.
Everything else, the 64 action, 54 action are all pinned.

Picked up a 180 cil model light target, with SAIT markings on it recently. Has the peep sight and front peep style, kind of odd but works great. I think I got a good deal on it. Its a mate to my CIL 310 I purchased in 1969 for the princely sum of $69.00. I have no idea how many gophers it killed but I know its in the thousands.

I have owned a few 64 Anschutz and one or two 54s, then they disappeared around here.
I had a little 1403 Biathlon but traded it off to a guy that gave me a song dance about competing with it, I don't know if he sold or traded it before he got home. I liked that little gun, I still have a spare trigger assembly, the hook for the butt stock, and hand stop for it.
A friend came over last week and I traded for his 54 and 2000 rounds of target ammo. The gun looks good, but the range will be the final judge.

I currently have a new CZ 455 Varmint thumbhole . Off the bipod , with decent ammo ( SK+ , Gold Medal , Eley Club and RWS ) it shot 5 , 5 shot groups at 50 yds today , off a bipod with an average of .474 .

I just took delivery of a new Anshutz MPR a few days ago and am waiting for my DIP rail to arrive so I can shoot it . It will be interesting to see how the accuracy compares . The build quality of the MPR is outstanding !! I really hope it shoots better than the 455 . The MPR trigger is in a completely different league than the 455 trigger . Not even close .

It's all in the barrel to get a 455 to shoot in the same league as an Annie you will need to put a lilja barrel on it.And yes the trigger is awesome on the Annie. My 41 year old anschutz match 64 has a huge heavy 26" barrel. My 455 has a very light trigger with a dip adjustable sear and it's still not as nice as the Anshutz.

I hope I am not breaking any forum rules but I have a nice Model 64 Silhouette for sale at a very reasonable price on the EE.

I put down a bunch of money on a custom .22LR Benchrest by Bill Calfee rifle and need to move the Annie.

Julius Anschutz was a competitive shooter so he made match grade rifles. His family has kept that tradition alive for almost 170 years. The main emphasis was on Olympic style shooting although in recent years Jochen Anschutz has branched out into sporting type rifles and rifles like the MSR RX22, trying to capitalize on the Anschutz name. I think the secret to their rifles is the attention to detail and tight tolerances which is why they never had a military contract. Detail equals time and cost and tight tolerances meant a rifle that is subceptable to failure in the elements. It has been 25 years since I visited the Anschutz factory but back then between 30-35 percent of the barrels did not pass inspection. I suspect it is a bit differnt now with CNC machining and rifles such as the MSR RX22.

I have several Olympic style Anshultz rifles but my prized rifle is my wife's 1901 JGA flobert design single shot. It was found in very good condition buried in the basement of a cabin in the Muskokas. I cleaned it off and it shot like a true Anschutz. It's my favourite because it was the cheapest one. lol

I think the Anschutz are rarely seen on the EE so no harm in mentioning ( I think ).
An Anschutz has been a dream of mine for a while, 70 yr.old guys can dream can't they ??
However, affording and dreaming are two different things.

That was likely the most awesome bench rimfire ever seen here! I saw that on the EE too.
You should start a new thread with some pictures and tell us all about it. That's a VERY special rifle you have.

I am new to this thread.
I bought a youth size model .22 long rifle. Bolt action 5 shot clip,
Serial 1306213 J.G. Anschultz GmbH./Ulm/D.WestGermany
Is there a good site I can go to learn more about this gun.
Or any thoughts on this nice little 22?

Love my Annie.......

I''ll post about the Bill Calfee rifle with pictures after I've had a good session with it.
