Whoa - Away for 4 weeks and all hell breaks loose.
Rifled tubing is a non - starter because the T-slot for the barrel slide would have to be added after. The only way to do that is to weld it on.
Weld will distort the tube, make it un-round (if that is a word) and shrink the 40MM down to say about 39.5 MM....Can we say dangerous pressur levels in an aluminum barrel?
Where is Koldt pics of a guys dismembered hand when you need them?
We are investigating button rifling at the moment, as that seems to be the most cost effective.
CNC is dificult to do at best due to the SLOW ASS twist rate. 1 in 4 feet, the machines feed rate would have to be enormous. To get the surface finish that we need in AL, the barrel would have to turn at about 2K RPM.....so the machine would have to travel @ 8000 FEET per minute. Feed rate is typically measured in INCHES per minute.
Please bear with us, we want this to happen, BUT we want a quality product, that is functional for ALL users, not just Civey apps, If we approach LE/MIL it has to be a real 203, as they will not buy a toy even if it is Cdn made, and if that is the only reason to buy, they could just as well go to Diemaco.
