The 22 Creedmoor

The 22 Creedmoor is heavily marketed, I kept seeing billboards on my way to work. Finally caved in. Glad I did

Got my hands on some 88gr ELD, seated .022" off the lands @ 2.754" OAL, BC is .545G1 and should be in the 3150-3250 fps range depending on powder

next to my 75gr Amax ammo for comparison

Wow. I wish my custom 223 could push those long needles at good velocities. That cartridge is appealing other than low barrel life. I feel like owning a 22-250 or 22 creedmor for fun. More appealing to me than the 6.5 creedmor right now

Neat bullet for sure.

FWIW I've always had good accuracy jamming 70 and 75 gr bergers into the lands on three 223 Rems. Not ideal for hunting but these small, sloped and soft bullets seem to work well like that.

Really enjoying my 22 CM... was shooting Berger 90gr and just started testing Sierra 95gr MKs

Testing done at 200yds and shows the load work up. The 95's seems very easy to set up.

Will test again around load D and see if I can tighten things up a bit more.

H4831SC and Hrn 6mm CM brass - turned, necked down. I am running a moderate pressure load.

I got some Starline which looks great so will venture to test this later in the spring.

So far, it has been a breeze to work with. I have had several 22-250s, a 22-250AI as well. I really like the 22 CM cause there is less fuss with the brass.

Look forward to my next range trip and see if I can get the groups to tighten up more.

great results with the 88gr Hornady ELD over a number of powders

RL19 - 0.54moa 3 shot 100y
Magpro - 0.71moa 3 shot 100y
H4831sc - 0.72moa 3 shot 301y
IMR 7977 - 0.39moa 3 shot 301y
Ramshot Magnum - 0.64moa 3 shot 459y
RL22 - 0.32moa 3 shot 100y
RL26 - 0.87moa 3 shot 301y
Vihtavuori N560 - 0.92moa 3 shot 459y

Average group size - 0.64moa

Speeds ranged from 3100 to 3300 fps, I found pressure with IMR 4955, H1000 & Retumbo so did not shoot groups. Will tweak and retry

46.5grs RL26 under the 75gr Amax was zippy with the formed brass. Only shot one group, from a clean bore it did a little over 1moa

Got the Model 70 22cm out shooting too. Same barrel as the Tikka, International Medium Hunter 1:7 twist, this one is also 26" long. Winchester Model 70 action, Timney trigger, McMillan Game Scout

First group on paper was sub moa, with the Nosler 55gr Varmageddon Tipped @ 3600 fps. Nice duplication of a 22-250 varmint load, and obviously the 1:7t doesn't tear apart the thin jacketed varmint bullet mid flight

I had loaded up the 69gr Sierra Tipped Matchking over a bunch of powders. Average 3 shot group was 1.1moa, here's a couple nice ones

The Model 70 will be fed 80gr Amax next trip out

Published in 1947. Made in both 224 for bullets up to 55 grains, and 228 for bullets up to 90 grains. What's the difference besides for 5 degrees on the shoulder?
