The 22 Creedmoor

Quickload has the case capacity of the 228 Ackley Mag @ 57.3grs h2O, which is about 10% larger than the 22CM. Nifty old cartridge, you going to build one? It would be cool to compare results

I doubt it, I'm very much on the fence with the bigger 22's, every time I think my 22-250 would benefit from a faster twist or a new barrel in 22 Newton, I almost always come back to the notion of getting a 243 or 6mm.

I'm liking the versatility of the 22cm

50gr SP over 15grs Trailboss = 2300 fps (22 Hornet)
50gr HP over 32grs H4895 = 3300 fps (223 Rem)
55gr BT over 38grs H4350 = 3600 fps (22-250 Rem)
75gr Amax over RL26 = 3640 fps
88gr ELD over RL222 = 3200 fps (very 243/6mm'ish)

Starting to stretch out the distances, accuracy is good and the wind isn't pushing the bullets around much

200 rounds through the Tikka now, throat doesn't seem toast yet

80gr A-Max & RL16 working well in the Model 70

38.7grs RL16

Code:
Stats - Average3316.59fps
Stats - Highest3319.95fps
Stats - Lowest3313.5fps
Stats - Ext. Spread6.45fps
Stats - Std. Dev3.23fps
Shot IDV0V50V100
1331432220
2332032270
3331632230

Retained speed / energy at 500 yards would be 2375 fps / 1000 ft-lbs, 1000 yards = 1590 fps / 450 ft lbs

Wind deflection @ 1000 yards = 7.1" per 1mph crosswind. To compare, a 6.5 Creedmoor 143 ELDx @ 2700 fps would have 7.05". The 88gr ELD @ 3220 fps that I am shooting in the Tikka 22cm would be 6.2" per mph. 22cm 88gr would be over 7 feet flatter shooting than the 6.5

not that it really matters these days

Cool cartridge

Been enjoying some LR shooting with my 22 CM and the heavies. Found a very nice load that is moderate in pressure and dialed back a bit in speed... but it tracks great and have taken it to over 1400yds.

Shot it last time against my 6.5 CM and it did just fine in winds approaching 15 MPH.

Bore life may not be anywhere near as good as the 6.5 CM but recoil sure is light...

I'm surprised that it does well with RL22, but it surely does... I have been working with the ELD bullets in 6mm and 6.5mm and they have some challenges in the short action chamberings I am using... I am very tempted to build an LA in one of the short 6.5's... throated for the ELD.

I see you have the 88 ELD @ 2.75(ish), you wouldn't have a picture of the round beside the bullet showing the seating depth would you?

Trailboss is the most under rated powder on the market.

88gr ELD @ 2.757" OAL, .020" off lands. Alpha brass, F210M primer. Anywhere from 39.2 to 41.2grs RL22 seems to shoot good

Shot two groups at 1038 yards, a 3.25" 3 shot (0.3moa) and a 9.125" 5 shot (0.84moa) - pretty happy with that!!!

Jumping on the bandwagon! But in a cheapskate way... I just ordered Hornady 22 Creedmoor dies and a 1:7 twist SS Green Mountain barrel blank. I'll stick it on my Savage 10TR action. I plan to thread the muzzle 5/8-24 because I don't like 1/2-28 threads. I've seen muzzle belling on 1/2-28 threaded button-rifled barrels. I'm sure better cut-rifled barrels are less susceptible to this.

I've got H4350, H1000, and IMR 4831 powders. Should be a good start for the 88 ELD-M, 77 LRX, and 75 Scirocco. Hopefully I can also get the 77 Nosler CC to shoot straight because I've got almost 1000 that don't seem to do well in my AR15.

I have done this also for my 6.5 cm with RP brass and lapua,I got a doughnut on the lapua brass that I had to take off,the remington brass came out great.I ran a 7mm sizer on the neck just to hold them tight in my chamber to fireform. As for firing a 22-250 in the 22 cm not to sure about that,it might work but likely stretch the web.Any 22-250 factory stuff I shot allways stretched there anyways.

Good results with the 75gr Amax and IMR 7977, speed is 3350 fps
