The 22 Creedmoor

Can you fire standard (not AI) 22-250 ammo through a 22 Creedmoor chamber? The shoulder to neck junction looks identical in side-by-side photos. If so, the 22 Creedmoor is a 30° Improved 22-250 and there you have it: factory ammo. Can anyone who owns a 22 Creedmoor confirm this?

I've fire formed 22-250 lapua brass to make 6.5 creedmoor cases.

I've read of people doing this. I'd imagine a lot of case stretch will occur in the web.

Tikka Makes the T3X in 22-250 now with a 8 Twist ! RJ

Anyone that cares about a 8 twist 22-250 would be better served by a 22CM

I Agree ! I was just answering Jim870's comment - Also It might a a while too before the 22 CM is avail from a lot of manufactures ! The 22-250 Rem AI DOES Rival the 22 CM in Peformance ! ;) RJ

I checked tikka's website and it doesn't reflect a 1-8 twist 22-250 being currently available. Browning is now offering a 1-9 twist(perhaps good enough) for most models of factory xbolts in 22-250 and Ruger's American is still a 1-10, so while 80+ grain bullets may be out there are plenty of great 75 grain bullets that can satisfy most wants. But hopefully wisdom will spread since all the special runs of 1-8 twist 22-250's sell like hotcakes and it will take root.
As to being better served by a .22 creedmoor than a 1-8 twist 22-250 other than being able to walk into any place that has any reloading gear and being able to buy brass and dies right off the shelf with no waiting you are probably right and lets not forget no fire forming. Now to get a 1-8 twist 22-250 there's probably going to be enough wait that getting dies and brass ordered probably won't be an issue so guess that is kind of a toss up.
Performance wise, yes, the .22 Creedmoor wins but I am setup already for 22-250 and sling heavies in my 223's so to get a faster twist spout for a .22-250 I would be ahead and have most of the performance. I suspect I am not alone in this regard. If the fast .22-250 needs too much trimming, or doesn't have enough go fast a creedmoor reamer should clean up the chamber.
