There are a couple of rifles I miss, and one of them was a push-feed Model 70 in .270 Winchester.

Now I'm back in the club. Any other afficionados? Any makes and models in .270 Win will do!

I got a 700/270Win with a Gaillard bbl done last winter. Contour is reg factory, but fluted. Stocked in and Edge. Dennis Sorenson did the smithing.

This is the first group I shot with it this year. I was quite pleased, but didn't spend a lot of time with that rifle as I was working with another rifle in prep for a moose hunt. I have since swapped the scope out for a leupold 4x, so I have to keep my expectaions for accuracy reasonable, but still it does keep .750" groups. I'll do more with it next summer.

Ruger M77 MKI Tang Safety. Trigger lapped, smooth action, accurate.

There is something special about necking down a 30-06 and firing a 270 cal bullet.

You get that intense whipcrack sub 30 cal bullets can't duplicate, and the thunder the 06 is famous for all in one package.

Of course, it will never be mistaken as a 'quiet' gun. Our 30-06 is a much quieter gun to fire (just not as fun!)

That was a caliber I hadn't had so to fill that void, I picked up a model 3000 Husqvarna:D from a gentleman on this site, Why not? . Just getting into reloading for it now:).

I got out of the .270 club and jumped into the oh-so newer and more exclusive 7mm-08 club.

But really they do the same thing. Make dinner.

Non-magnum performance, magnum recoil, long action, lousy bc's and SD's.

Really ? We will have to agree to disagree on the recoil as its relative...but as far as bc and sd and other bs a 150 gr. SST does have some decent numbers. Actually its nearly the same as the 6.5mm 140 gr. SST bullet

Ballistic Coefficient 0.525
Sectional Density 0.279

.270's are too common to be any fun.

I'll take a .280 now just to be different* or a .25-06 to be more different or even more different a .284.

I think common is the most fun! To me, there is nothing fun about searching for over priced ammo made out of "unobtainium alloy"

Yep - my goto rifle is a .270.

It's not a fancy one with a replacement barrel or anything, just a Parker Hale that has been bedded and the trigger tuned. It fits me really well and while it is not the most accurate rifle I own, it will shoot around 1 MOA off the bench which for what I use it for is just fine.
