The .270 Win club, are you in?

I bought a .270 Ruger Hawkeye 2 years ago. I had been a .270 hater due to an old high school rivalry thing:) But I fell in love with this at a gun show. Cheap, available ammo isn't a bad thing here as places that sell ammo are not overly common.

A friend bought a LH .270 short mag last year and had a hard time finding ammo for it, and then it was double the price.

Generally speaking, my preference is for blued steel and nicely figured wood, but I do like what you have pictured.

I've owned several bolt action rifles chambered in .270 Winchester, and until recently I was "between" 270's...

So, last week I bought a beautiful Ruger M77 RSI in .270, and now I have a Browning A-Bolt Stainless Stalker (sans BOSS) coming from Roger at Shooters Choice Alberta. So I'm back in the club. :)

:)Decisions decisions:p. ;)one of the side benefits of our interests. A short while ago, I finally purchased my first rifle chambered in 270 Win. I picked up a nice model 3000 Husqvarna from Why not?, Ted Wagner, on this site. I've never had a 270 and thought it was about time to correct that deficiency:p.

My grandson, in this picture taken about seven years ago, is using a Sako 270 which I purchased, before his Dad was born!
I'm in the 270 club.

I generally gravitate more towards Remington 700s but I have to say that that Super Grade of yours is a beautiful rifle and it certainly looks to be worthy of the name.

After reading some of Jack Connors work...his trip to Africa and what he did with a 270, I had to have one! I got my first and ONLY 270 from Brad Butler when he opened up WSS in Calgary. Back in the 80's. It is one of Brownings first run of the Stainless Stalkers. they never got the synthetic stocks finished in time...so, it has a wooden stock with the black krinkle finish on it...checkered and a bit of a palm swell. I put a Burris Signature Series 3-9x40 on top the day I got it, it's setting in Leupy rings...Stainless of course;)...STILL THERE!!...Nuthins changed in over 25 years except my son now has the title and my wife shot her first deer ever last season with it! It'll still drive tacks with a 130 Bal/Tip on top of 54.2 gr of IMR 4350!! What a great caliber an and even greater rifle!!!I put a few pics on the Browning Trophy case Web Site over the years, just relived the memories...... man , I got old :rolleyes:)...ThankX...I needed that!!

Thanks, Chuck. From what I can tell so far, this one was made right.... i.e. no rough edges, all metal parts are nice and uniform, the bolt is butter, and the barrel is properly free floated and bedded. The picture does not do justice to the wood, it is quite nice with a lot of figure in the rear stock. One this that I have noticed though is that the 3 position safety is not the quietest that I have heard, but that hopefully will work in to be of an acceptable sound level.V:I:

270

I've been in the club for a few years. Dad gave me a Rem 721 270 when i was 11 -12 years old in southern Oregon, moved to Prince George in 1963. now have a Win FW 270, SS Ruger MK 11 270, Daughter and grand son both have Rem 721 270's. Just went to nosler partitions in the last 5 years. Used a lot of cup and core bullets, never had a problem killing animals from squirrels to bear with them. only bought a Ruger 338 after reading to much internet BS about how you need a canon to take game. Oh well will keep the 338 for the heavy Grizz bear areas and keep using the 270 for every thing else!
