The 30-30 club, are you in?

I have had 30-30 in Winchster 1894's many both pre and post 64 and I have had Marlins 30-30. Great fun little guns I will get another one before to long forsure

Count Me In Also.....My Dads Ol' 336c from about 1975(or so) I'd say...just like the day he bought er!
Hard to believe eh...Rifle,Scope,Soft Case & Box Of Shells...$175

I'm sorta in the club I guess - I own this thurty-thurty - a marlin trapper 336LTS.

But I prefer 35s so last year I finally snagged a near clone - a Marlin Marauder 336RC trapper in 35rem to replace it. I've been carrying that little 35 the last few weeks in the bush bear hunting so thats happened. However I haven't worked up the courage to sell the LTS yet. Got about 1200ct 170gr jacketed FNs to reload for it and it shoots well with ReL15 - somewhere over 2100MV chronographed (forget exact number).

Just joined canadiangunnutz and proud to say that I own a 30-30 in Marlin 336. First deer rifle I ever owned. Didn't fire it for 18 years and pulled it out and downed a doe at 70 yards. DRT. Forgot how little it kicked and much damage it can do at the right distance. Great handling cartridge when shots are within 100 yards and something is on the run.

Marlin nostalgia

I owned a Marlin 39a (22 cal) some years ago (45 years ago to tell the truth) who sadly perish in a fire. When I retired 4 years ago and came back to rifle and hunting the first gun I bought was an old Marlin 336 in 30-30. The only thing I regret is that I equipped it with a 3X7X33 scope witch somewhat destroyed the line and beauty of the rifle. The old Marlin of my youth had a Lyman peep sight and I think I will come back to that setting.
What do you guys suggest? Do you use a scope on your 30-30 ?

Tried a vxIII 1.5-5 on a trapper for awhile, but found it took away the easy handling. My "work" trapper takes a lot of abuse and I didn't want to worry about squishing the scope so I took it off.

30-30 club

I own a 1996 manufactured Marlin 336CS, with a Banner 1.5-4.5 X 32mm scope. On a good day this rifle will produce 3/4" groups @100yards, using 150gr Win. Power Points, chronyed at 2250 f.p.s It has taken three white tailed deer. The only fault was the trigger, very gritty with a lot of travel. I had my gunsmith clean it up and leave it with a 3 lb pull. Excellent rifle.

I also have a 1955 Winchester Model94, fitted with a Willians FP Receiver sight.

30-30 (150 gr.)penetrates as well as a 444Marlin (265 gr) in my testing. Both blew up after penetrating 5" of encyclopedia. 30-30 is good for larger then deer animals, IMHO as long as the bullet gets into the boiler room. Thanks

1956 Mod.94. Close to mint.
Took off the Lyman peep for the original semi-buck, now shoots a foot high at 100yrds. Suspect I need a different front sight.;)

I have a 1956 made M94 Carbine and with a Wichester 150 grain Silvertip (old style) I was amazed of the damage to a deer's chest.
It destroyed 1 and one half lungs, and top of the heart too. Also smashed up, the forward 1/3 of the tenderlions.
Radical damage for a 'marginal' round I would say.

My fav is a my 94 win AE with m-8 4x compact leupold It is my white tail killer, and any man or woman who still hunts in the woods on foot who has never tried it is missing a real treat! If you hunt in the woods no deer is to far away for it ! And the animal is no deader with a larger cal.

Yes, I have easily owned over a couple dozen over the years.... including the elusive Rem 788 bolt rifle in .30-30 Win....

Currently have about 5, all Win '94's of one description or another [including a pre 64 carbine and RB rifle]........................

The only kind of .30-30 lever I see myself getting next would be a Marlin 336 type that I can scope.

whats wrong with the 94AE it ROCKS
