I am the proud owner of a model 94 .30-30 that was bought brand new in the 1940's by my Great Grandfather. It was passed down to my Grandfather, Father and finally to me some years ago. It is in pristine condition. It will never be sold or surrendered (regardless of what happens with firearms law). I shot my first deer with it almost 20 years ago. I hope to pass it on to one of my children someday. I don't shoot it or hunt with it anymore but it works and shoots 100%...I consider it semi-retired for the time being.

well i just got into theses guns and cant figure out why i did not shoot them sooner i guess i had magnumitis, now i have winchester texas ranger, nra model 64,marlin glenfield, 336c and 336w,will be using 170 gr silver tips on moose this season

I have owned two and presently have one - A 1950 Marlin 336A-DL rifle (sold the Marlin 30AS). The 1958 Win 94 in 32 Special doesn't count I guess.

I doubt I'll ever hunt with it, nor is there another practical use for it, yet I can't bring myself to sell it.

I'm in. Had a winchester model 94 when I was about 16. Sold it for something with a little more range. Was trying to find another one about 2 or 3 years ago and couldn't. Ended up getting a marlin 336.
Great rifle. I'm taking it hunting this fall instead of the 7mag I got for longer range. Funny how your tastes change as you age.

A 94 ranger in 30-30 was my first centrefire. I won it at a trapshoot in Walsh county about 20 years ago. shot my first deer with it too. An absolute never sell rifle.

I have a 30-30 Winchester model94. It was the first firearm I ever owned. I bought it when I passed my CORE course back when I was 13 yrs old. I also have a model 94 that was passed down to my dad when his uncle died.

My first real firearm was (and still is, as I will never part with it) a Marlin 336CS in 30-30 that my folks bought me when I first got my FAC back in the mid eighties. I've since removed the buckhorn sight blade (just took the blade off as I didn't want to make any permanent mods to the rifle) and added a reciever mounted Lyman aperture sight unit. Still one of my favourite rifles to shoot...

hsld.

I am in.
Two pre 64 Model 94's ...one serial number apart.
My Mom and Grandmother bought them for Christmas one year, for my Dad and my Grandfather.

...and Mossberg 464 in 30-30...

What's your opinion of your 464? Most of what I've read/heard is tainted with the general disdain many show for Mossberg and those who dismiss it as a cheap clone.

Anyone else have one of these Mossbergs? I admit that the idea of a Win94/Marlin 336 hybrid is an interesting one.

I believe it has seen about 500 rounds down the tube with no flaws whatsoever. Still very accurate as well. I was getting nice groups offhand at 100 yards.

I recently bought a Lever Guns magazine in Arizona and it had an article on the 464. Mossberg claims the only problems they currently have with this gun is not being able to make them fast enough. Apparently they also worked with Hornady and "optimized" the gun for Leverolution ammo.

Thanks for the reply, this is the kind of feedback on these I think many people are looking for. Not an opinion from someone who handled it at a shop and formed a bias, but someone who has put it through it's paces. I'd say 500 flawless rounds is as good an indication of it's potential as any marketing campaign!
