The 30-30 club, are you in?

I've got two. An early 50's 94 and a nearly mint Rem 788. I used to shoot a lot of cast loads from the Win. Bought the Rem to work up some really accurate cast loads but never seem to have the time. Rem. 788's in 30-30 used to be the gun to beat in The Cast Bullet Assoc. matches 20 years ago. Allways wanted one, finally found a nice one and now that I have it I don't shoot it??

I had a Winchester lever action and my dad had a Savage bolt action (probably that 340 mentioned above). The lever was a great little gun for carrying in the bush. Suited some hunts, but not others.

My Dad's best friend of over 65 years gave me his pre-64 Win 94 in 30-30 when we had to register our firearms.

So yes I have a 30-30... :D

I'm taking him out after Sept 10/09 to collect Serpentine rocks for his backyard but will throw in a deer hunt while we are out.

I will give him a choice of rifles to use his 30-30 or a brand new very accurate 30-06 Rem 700 LSS that I bought from Rembo a few months ago and just finished glass bedding.

Looking forward to the trip and am totally curious which rifle he will pick... :)

No longer own a 30-30 of any persuasion, but have owned several over the years. First one was a Marlin 1893 Octagon barrelled long rifle. Then a couple of 94 Carbines, and later a couple of 336 Marlins, one being the older 336A [24"barrel and half magazine] I have now gone to the dark side in lever guns, a Model 94 Legendary Frontiersman in 38-55. Regards, Eagleye.

I have a few Trapper 30-30's and a few normal 94's.

Great Atv, bears spray, brush hunting rifles!
Everybody should have one.

30/30's and to a lesser extent .32 specials have run strong in my family for years. My father had a Marlin in the 70's and later on a Winchester .32sp. Just about every uncle owns or has owned one and my grandfather had one as well. Ten years ago I had a Winchester 94 Ranger. A nice no frills beater I now regret selling.

Hopefully I'll be rejoining the club before long!

I became a club member this summer with the purchase of a Winchester NWT Centennial in .30/30. The rifle had been treated poorly, but I think I can bring it into shoot-able condition without too much trouble. Fortunately it is one of the high serial number rifles, so it never was what some might consider valuable.

I have a deeply ingrained preference for bolt guns, but the lever action does have some advantages by comparison. Their thin profile makes the traditional lever action a joy to carry, unmatched by even a Mannlicher Schonauer or a modern custom scout rifle. While we bolt action snobs think of our guns as being the most accurate, I've seen some very fine shooting done with lever actions.

have four 30/30's in lever action , one is a canadian centenial never fired . have other lever guns , but use bolt to hunt with.

Marlin 30AS in 30-30 here with a Williams peep on it. Great little gun that's easy to hump around all day in the thick stuff. Easy pointing and quick follow-up shots if required.
