The 30-30 club, are you in?

I have an Old ratty Winchester 94 in that venerable 30-30.

Took me 8 gun auctions to finally get one at $200. (Probably 40-50 passed me by, but not for a lack of bidding. My limit was $200 and I finally got one at that price.) Very nice :)

Pre '64 model 94. How many guys still hunt with a 30-30? After years of being a scoped bolt rifle snob I carried my old iron sighted '94 on a recent sheep hunt. I fell in love! It is an absolute pleasure to carry and pack in the mountains, and will shoot 1.5 - 2 inch groups at 100 yds with the iron sights. Before I commited to taking it on the hunt I shot at 2 and 300 yards. (5" group at 300). So.... first success with this gun for me was a 13 year old 43" dall ram! (though one shot at 40 yards wasn't much of a test for the gun......)

Yep - have 2 Model 94's - one has been bounced around as the "safety gun" - I had to tear it apart and repair the action - a screw had come loose and bent - was preventing the action from moving. The other is in pristine condition and will be saved for my daughter (who is now 2).

Great Rifle!

I've got a Win M94 and Mossberg 464 in 30-30. Im thinking of adding an M94 in 32 special in the near future. Although I must admit, I use my 20's vintage Savage 99 in 300 savage to hunt with the most.

What kinda money are we talking for these things?

Admittedly, I'm not to informed about levers....or 30-30s

A used Win. 94 your looking at around $300 and up. Sometimes the odd one under $300 will appear on the EE. It also depends on whether its a pre or post '64, a commemerative fired or un-fired or model ie; Trapper, Big Bore etc...

Marlins seem to be selling for about the same ($300 & up).
Just check & compare on the EE ;)
I bought my Marlin 336 for under $400 bucks with great service to add!!
New Marlin 336's are $570+. I was in Walmart in Hattiesburg Mississippi recently and priced a brand new one for $369.95

How many of us, either have owned, or do own a 30-30 chambered rifle, or handgun.
Doesn't matter what make, or model.

Me, obviously :D

indeed I do. have had many 30-30 rifles, have 2 keeper pre '64 94's at the moment. just sold an H&R 157 full wood stock b/b in 30-30, I miss it already! even had a Savage 340 in 30-30.

If I keep having trouble getting my Swede sporter running for this season my 30/30 Win is going to be the rifle I use this season.
