The 30-30 club, are you in?

Sometime back in the early 80's I shot deer with the 30-30/06. That's a 30-06 cartridge downloaded to 30-30 velocities and firing a round-nosed 30-30 type bullet. I can't remember anymore, but I may have used my own cast lead bullets. The 30-30/06 worked well for Blacktails in that thick wet coast bush.

Inherited my great grandfather's Winchester 1894 30-30 last year and will forever cherish it. Manufactured in 1898 with a serial around 150,000 she sat in my uncle's basement and was not fired for exactly 50 years. Had a bit of surface rust, but I cleaned her up and took my uncle to the range and she's still a tack driver after all these years. My uncle was very happy to shoot it again, and happy to pass it on to a fourth generation.
 
I took my first whitetail with a Winchester 1894 built in 1948. Just last week in fact.

I was surprised that it seemed louder than my hunting buddy's 300 wsm.

Now I'm on the hunt for a 30-30 with a 26"+ barrel for more chooch.
 
I love my henry 30-30. Just loaded up some 190gr barnes originals for bear defence and also some 125gr fn/hp that I might use on pigs.
The 30-30 is still a very versatile and capable cartridge especially with today's modern bullets.
 
Yup I'm in with a model 94 circa 1973 the only time I pack it really is when I'm pushing bush for the boy's when deer hunting, light, fast and shoots good. I don't reload for it as I got about 8 boxes ammo with it when I acquired it years ago

Yesiree! Both Winchester 1894 models. One pre-'64 and one (the one I shoot) a 1970's sintered steel receiver. Wonderful little carbines, chambered in a very capable round.
 
One of my favorite deer rifles is a .30-30 Model 94AE I purchased new in 1984 . It has served me very well over the years and still functions like the day I bought it. It has become like my right arm over time and I still enjoy the time I spend in the outdoors with it each season.
 
Finally joined the club. After having several winchester 94s and 95s, in other calibers, I finally bought a Marlin .30-30.
A very old 336 to be more specific. Old enough to have no safety or holes for an optic. Got about 2" groups with cast bullets at 100 yds so far. I put williams fire sights on it, which is almost to modern for me on a levergun. The 30-30 is one of the best utility cartridges.
