The 375 Ruger

Savage model 116 Alaskan Brush Hunter bolt action with Accutrigger and synthetic stock in 375 Ruger.
It has a 20" bbl and weighs about 7.5 pounds.
It's the only 375 magnum light enough for me to carry around in the bush all day.
The run of the mill 375 magnums I've hefted are 9-11 pound anvils.
No way would I be carrying them thru the bush all day.
Have a Leupold 3-9x40mm "Rifleman" scope sitting on top mounted with Warne QD rings so I can default to the iron sights in seconds and remount the scope again without having to resight the gun.
Woulda preferred CRF over the push feed the gun has but it is very slick and never log jams on me and extraction is 100% with the Hornady 270 grain factory ammo.
It's a handful on the bench but surprisingly easy on the shoulder for stand up shooting.

Anyone get their hands on one of Ruger's Guide Guns in .375 Ruger yet? Prophet River has one in stock and I'm damn near ready to sell a bunch of rifles, a kidney or my fathers truck just to get my hands on it. It looks soooooo ugly.....yet there's something about it that makes me want it soooo sooo bad.

How do you like the factory iron sights on your Savage? I've been thinking about buying my first big bore rifle, and the weight and cost of the Savage are pretty appealing. I'm really starting to warm up to the idea of a short, somewhat light, quick pointing rifle after buying a Ruger Scout, now I think I want something similar in a larger cartridge.
Kind of torn between a bolt action .375 and a Marlin 1895G. I'm going to own both one day, but funds are a bit tight right now so realistically I'll only be able to get one in the foreseeable future, I don't own a lever action yet so maybe it'll be the 1895 first but for some reason that Savage keeps calling my name : )

Went to the range today in the pouring rain and finalized my load for this year moose hunt. 250gr TTSX and 83.5gr of H4350. Two 3 shot groups on the same target (6 shots) made a one big mushy hole slightly over an inch on my soaked target. Can't wait!

Basically the same load I use for the 250 TTSX. I put half a grain more in, at 84 gr ;)

I suspect the only difference is your barrel vs mine. I get the same accuracy and confident feeling ! :)

Got a pic of your New King, SuperCub?
