The 375 Ruger

Mine is a plain jane SS LH Hawkeye. Haven't hunted anything with it yet, mainly sees use as a backup, hiking or camp gun. It shoots the factory 270 grain load very, very well.

This is similar to the rifle I was lucky enough to find recently, except in RH and it is a 23" barrel, whereas this looks closer to 20"?

I think your lefty in this model is relatively rare, as are the stainless/laminate configs generally.

I will post some pics when I have the setup completed. Happy camper over here!

Show us your .375 Rugers

Tell us of your hunting stories

Tell us what load you are using

Give us any info you have on the most innovative, wonderful cartridge made in 100 years.

This thread is for all things .375 Ruger. ......

Doesn't matter if you have posted it before, do it again. Let's get a great thread going about the fantastic .375 Ruger!

I have seen some guys necking down the Ruger 375 to 7mm and calling it the 7 LRM. Every thing I have read leads me to believe it to be a very good wildcat.

What about the Ruger 375? Is it relegated to novelty?

Anyone seeing the 375 Ruger on store shelves?

I don't think it's dead yet - Last I heard though, it's not feeling well.....

Congrats on the rifle! Pics when you get the chance! :)

Thats because We will not let them chamber a MOOSEBERG with the Real King - the " 375 H&H " - and YES it has a belt ! :d LOL ;) RJ

The obsolete H&H might be too long for the Mossberg. For a manufacturer, the ability to use the same actions as the rest of their line up- but for a 375 - is a real added bonus to using the NEW KING. We have already been seeing this with other manufacturers that have never had any interest in the H&H

Only the bargain rifle companies seem to be following this trend.Companies that still make real guns still offer the real 375. :dancingbanana:

Affordable rifles will only make the NEW KING more prevalent.

And now there are rifles offered for any budget. High $$$ to "bargain" and everything in between. The same cannot be said about other 375s

Don't think it's going anywhere. I commonly see brass go in and out of stock in stores around the province. People are buying rifles, brass and dies are commonly available. Opposed to many new cartridges released now a days the case is actually something new and the design is useful. It's here to stay.

Mine is a 20" barrel. Imported from the first run Ruger did, because I just had to have it and didn't figure there would ever be another run made. It does appear that Ruger did at least a couple more runs since though.

I love mine and am sure you'll be pleased with your new 23". Pictures and thoughts when you can, please!

Exactly. I don't think Ruger planned on selling millions upon millions of them. After all, only so many people need, or even want, a cartridge of that power. I'd say it's pretty popular for such a 'niche cartridge'...

Here is central BC. I know of 5 guys buying 375 rugers in the last 6 months. I think the cartridge is doing well. Brass is easly avalibal. Loaded ammunition is still lacking. IMO that's because most people loading cartridges of this size tend to reload.
.375cal bullets are all over as well.

IMO the ruger has laid a solid foundation. Will be around for a long time.

Dancing banana and delusions of royalty aside. This is not the first, probably not the last, attempt at improving the 375 bore. Weatherby, remington, and a few proprietary cartridges spring to mind. Non of the others are wildly popular, non are impossible to find components for.

My 375 Rum was about $900 new from WSS about 14 years ago, not a plinking rifle so i have no doubt the barrel will outlive me. Have lots of brass, and projectile. It doesnt have a belt either....not that it matters. Except for the great bears, perhaps Buffalo in Aus, the principal use for the bore is in Africa. Good luck finding ammo for anything other than a 375 H&H in a fly in country on that continent, with no electricity ...never mind LGS.

The 375 Ruger is a useful caliber, it is going to be around to a limited extent just like all the other flavor of the decade 375 H&H replacements. In its principal environment, D&D Africa, it is still a contender, not the King. Prince Charles is the heir, might not look great to some in photo's(375H&H), the 375 Ruger is Prince Harry....5th in line for the throne.

This whole "New King" rhetoric is reaching a point, that at best, can only be described as beyond childish....:(

There has never been a 375 cartridge introduced that has been so popular, right from the start. Not even the H&H.

Since the H&H, there has never been a new 375 as popular or chambered in as many rifles as the 375 Ruger. The RUMs, WBYs etc were never this popular.

The NEW KING is making inroads in Africa, too.

There are no limits. ;)

;)I presently have a model 70 Super Express in 375 H&H, on the bottem, that's a match for one of the same I have in 458WM.

Admittedly, I haven't used it in the field, yet, but hopefully I'll be able to rectify that experience in the field this coming season. IF I was going to go for a 375, one that really intrigues me is the 375 Chatfield Taylor that Super Cub posted a photo of earlier on.

Now that's interesting.
