The 760/7600 Club

just swapped out the trigger spring on my 30-06 7600 / vortex 3-9x40 scope, what a difference.

i won a bronze medal at lasts years 500 yard shoot got a 10x and some highish scores with the old shotgun spring trigger. hoping for better results this year with the new spring ....

lol'z 500 yards is a long way, to hit the equivalent of a mosses eye ball.

edit, can i join the club .... pleeezzz.

Anyone had issues with the mags being loose and not staying locked up in tight enough, causing feeding issues??

Nope.

But the new receivers need the new style mags with the rubber bumper on the bottom, and do NOT feed well with the older 760 and 7600 mags without rubber bumpers. The older receivers work fine with any magazines, in my own experience at least.

Most 760/7600 feeding problems are caused by bent feed lips at the top of the mag.

There's a notch on the end of the mag that holds it in place. I've seen older mags with the edge of this notch worn rounded so it won't hold in the proper place and feed well. I've filed the edge flatter for temp fix, but a new[er] mag was the ticket for my problems.

Check this one out. Where has this rifle been for the last 40yrs?

Never scoped, almost mint. No extra sling holes. The action bars, mag and muzzle look new. Code says it was made in Dec. 1972.

You will notice a few small water spots in a couple pics. Not pitting, but there was a very light rain while I was taking these pics.

Leadchucker62:

I have one of those as well, though mine isn't in as good a shape and its much newer (1954 :) ) .

I also have a 1952 gun, but mine's in 30-06 which tends to be my "go-to" gun, and for moose I carry my 7600 in .35 Whelen.

According to my memory, that rifle was made in 1913, so it is absolutely a collector's edition!!!

Doug

Are you talking the 760 Doug. I may be wrong but I thought the First Serial number for the 760 was 1001 in 1952, Replaced Model 141
They hit 500000 in the fall of 1968. I have not checked the 285000??

Well it was the 760 or the 1894 or the 1893 or one of those confusing numbers, but for sure that gun is a collector's dream!!! Just like all of these other ones.............:p

Heck if I had known they were so collectible I would not have sold the last hundred or so that have gone through my hands!!!!
