The 760/7600 Club

Got a 760 Gamemaster, not sure when it was manufactured. Gotta say though, it has never rattled, and has taken all the deer I have shot, with the exception of my biggest buck which I took with my bow. It is by far the most accurate rifle I have ever shot. However, now that I've taken an interest in old Winchester levers, I am beginning to take them into the field instead. That old 760 never let me down though. Fine rifles.

Anyone know the Dates of Manufacture for the 760s? Don't have it near me to check out the s/n.

Matt

Model 760

I only have a Model 760 in .30-06. My dads rifle as a kid. I had it restored a couple of years ago but have never taken anywhere but the range.

Almost part of the club :D

I purchased one, waited nearly 6 months to get it and when i got it is was mis- machined on the receiver. Rifle went back to the store, store sent it back to Gravels ,which is the sole importer of Remington into canada .

Gravels should have replaced it but i havent seen one yet.

I contacted Remington and even they said it is unacceptable but Gravel is the Canadian importer so they have very little control???

The person at Remington was very reasonable and apologetic and said that they have not received it back to Remington from Gravel.
I gave Remington the serial number and they are contacting Gravel to get to the bottom of this .

Its comeing up 7,months and as much as i like Remingtons this is a little silly. With my luck i will receive it when they make it obsolete and replace it with a new and improved model

so even though i have one registerred in my name and i have paid for it in full I still do not have one in person . :bangHead:

Can i still be part of the club ? can i ,can i PLEEEEEEEEEEEEESE???? :runaway:

PS: so far folks this is the closest i have gotten to a picture

I'll join in. Cut my teeth on the predecessor Model 141 in 35 REM then graduated to the 760 in 300 SAV.

Think that 300 SAV must have been pregnant and part Rabbit because the last time I checked the Safe there seemed to be some additional inventory!

308 WIN in 760
270 WIN in 760
30-06 in 760
7mm-08 in 760 (Had a 308 win carbine re-barreled)

308 WIN in SIX

308 WIN in 7600
243 WIN in 7600 (synthetic)
280 REM in 7600

They all shoot well (M.O.A. is the norm) and never had one fail me.

Alright, you're now president of the club.:) Where did you get the new barrel? I wouldn't mind a .338 Federal carbine.

Hi Blargon

Ellwood Epps put the new barrel on. It is stainless and looks a little different but that was what I wanted. The barrel is clean (no sights) and I also got a Ram-Line Camo stock for it. Not sure whether I prefer the Camo or wood, keep flipping them back and forth.

Apparently Ellwood Epps have a gunsmith who does this quite regularly. They did a nice job of it. Took a little longer than was expected but that was due to some regulation changes getting their order of barrels through Customs.

I have been tossing the idea of getting another one done in either the 338 Federal or 358 WIN. Used to have a 358 WIN in a BLR so I have all the reloading stuff for it, but the 338 Federal has caught my interest. Also a 6.5 x 55 might be kind of neat.

Decisions, decisions.

760/7600 Club

I will join the club with a 760 and two 7600's. The 760 is a 308 carbine and also has a 308 rifle barrel (22") which interchanges with the carbine barrel The 7600's are both 35 Whelens- one has the engraved receiver, the other is a brand new unfired NIB plain receiver imported through Questar when Grice's in PA did a special run.

I am not very computer literate. How do I post pictures, my wife does have a digital camera so that part I can do.

I believe it was a Montana barrel. That was what they had told me when I discussed it but when they had the customs problems they tried to order them from another supplier as the customs problems had to do with a change to the importers documentation. The other supplier ran into the same problem at the border so Ellwood Epps told me they would use whichever one came through 1st so I am unsure. It shots fine about 1 1/4" at 100yds with factory ammo. Haven't gotten around to reloading for it yet. Hopefully this summer.

Thanks Shortaction

Did they replace the receiver or just give you a new gun?

Mine had an upgrade recently as well, a new VX-II 1-4x.
