The 760/7600 Club

On Saturday I bought a 95% Model Six in 6mm, that I had been staring at for a couple of months. Good price and 395 pieces of primed and trimmed brass. I live on Vancouver Island so this is perfect for Blacktails and Black bears.

Pumped gas for a whole summer (many years ago) to get my .308. Almost everytime I carry my .300 Win BAR I think to myself I should us that 7600 more often. Especially since it'll shot 1 moa (oh ya the guy with the bolt said it shouldn't do that) hehe LOL.:)

For some reason I own 3- 7600 in 270 and 1 in 243. I have had them in 308 & 30-06 as well. I have bolt guns that never leave the cabinet because I just love the pumps.

Ontario and Sask has the highest sales of pumps in Canada.

Pennsylvania has the highest amount anywhere. They call them Amish Machineguns there.

.

I have been tossing the idea of getting another one done in either the 338 Federal or 358 WIN. Used to have a 358 WIN in a BLR so I have all the reloading stuff for it
If you can find a decent 760 in 35Rem it's easy to rechamber to 358. All you need is a mag for a .308 to swap out for the shorter 35Rem mag.

I did one like that a few years ago, but left it with a friend in the Yukon. He gave it to his son who was working for an outfitter.

760's are one of my favourites.......and great for lefties. Have owned many and still have .222 [2 of them], 257 Roberts, 308, got talked out of my 6mm last winter. Had a .223 and .244 at one time...and 270 and 35. ......wTc

I'll join the club too. Most of the guys I hunt with have one of these in .308 or 270.
Mine is a 7600 in .308. Plain Jane iron sights.

Here's the best picture I have of this gun... I should get a better picture...

Edit: I thought I'd give a little more detail... I bought this gun in '98. Was my first gun purchase ever. Shot my first buck with it that same year, I had been hunting for 5 years before that with no luck, he broke the ice :). The buck in the picture was taken 6 years later. I've been lucky enough to harvest a few bucks and a few does with that gun since I bought it. Definitely a keeper.

Brad, can I be a shoe in? I don't have a 760 but I have a 14.:) After all it did break trail for your newer model and I have no other friends here who like them. Actually, I don't think I have any friends.......:p

Left one was first year of production, 1912, right one is 1913. My BIL bought the older one from me and we refinished it. Bubba had been hard at work but I believe we did a good job of it. Need to get some after pics.

What better to have a box of period ammo to go with the rifle too.:)

We gave Paul a hard time when he looked at a pump at WSS last winter. More because of how they get bashed out here than anything. Told him they would pay him to take it.:D He is a good sport that kid.

I think you guys went back and bought that pump after I was shamed into not taking it for myself. It was a steal. :)

The neighbors kid had one (760) in 06. This is 16 years ago. I borrowed it to put an injured deer down once but I could not get the rifle to discharge. Talk about getting a flinch fast. It was like the trigger was blocked or the breech bolt wouldn't close all the way. Finally gave up and went back for the 99 in 22 High Power.

He had bought a 15+ round magazine out of the states for it. He thought he had the world by the tail. Even as kids we just laughed at him. He shot it was a good shooter tho...

Hey, we won't turn any pumps away, the more the better.:)

Your's looks alot better than the .25 I have here, too bad about the hiding in the barn thing...

I kinda like the older ones, wouldn't mind a .30 REM if I could get one that was VG+ for a good $$.

I have two - a 35 Whelan and a 308. Both shoot very well. I have used the 308 with a 10 shot mag in some military condition matches.

My 308 groups around one minute, better than most of my bolt rifles when they came out of the box.

I also have the semi-auto version in 30-06. It patterns well.

7600P in .308, Leupold VX-II 1-4 with quick-disconnect rings. Had to remove the rear ghost ring sight as it conflicts with the scope.

How much louder is that short barrel? My 20" .308 is about as loud as I like to get.

You get any moose at Pickle Lake?

For you Brad, I will find you such a beast. Did they get to try shooting that one?

Haven't shot anything with it yet. The parkerizing withstands the elements very well. I should've had one of those barrel-condoms on though.

Shoots 165gr Gamekings at 2500fps. The 16.5" barrel gives it a ~48" overall length that fits perfectly on the front of my atv.

looks good, the length for the 308 carbine is 37.1/2 (think you meant to say 38 inch not 48 inch )and the 30-06 carbine is 39 1/8th and with the folder it makes it that much easier to pack and still stay well within the limits.
I like the stocks the police version comes with , I really wish remington didnt use the monte carlo stock as it tends to make the irons useless unless you really contort yourself.

I dont know what remington is thinking:slap:

and in case anyone is looking, Numrich has 10 round steel mags in stock in short and long
